Ah. I remember the days of Fulham America and their near brush with relegation. Thanks to the efforts of the Deuce however, they are in the top flight for another year! They staying strongly mid table so far. Will it they continue to do so?
(I did a search and didn't find a thread dedicated to The Cottagers. Someone more handy than me please post up some pics and such and lets get a Fulham FC thread going. Please forgive me if one exists already.) |

I like Fulham obviously since they have so many Americans on their squad. Seems that they have some trouble in getting talent from England but they do great some great American players.

When people ask me who I support in the Prem, it is only logical for me to say Fulham, because of the Americans they have and the ones they've given a chance to. I would not go so far as to say that Fulham's struggles were due to having "too many Americans". I mean, after all, it was Dempsey who played a key role in saving them from relegation. Beyond that, would you really try to say McBride was brining them down?

Well its just facts. Last year, they had 5 Americans after January (4 before..) And they struggled to stay up. This year they have one and doing quite well.
And of course, its not all their fault, obviously. But when two of your striking options are a 35/36 year old Brian McBride, and any form of Eddie Johnson, you are going to struggle. And of course, not to say that I don't want them to succeed (And I thought that had to go without saying). However, please don't confuse me throwing my American bias out to make a rational opinion about the club with taking a typical 'anti-American attitude'. Just because you struggle to differentiate between the two, does not mean that the rest of us do so as well. Noterd this season as well, is the fact that Fulham has performed much better with Dempsey starting, and not coming off the bench, as was the case in the beginning of the season (when Fulham were struggling). Again, he is not making the entire difference up, but its hard to argue with putting him back on the bench. So, again, another example, of not being biased when examining a clubs performance, etc. Hopefully, one day, you will be able to do the same, and be able to contribute to an actual conversation, as opposed to spitting out the usual, "America, **** yeah' attitude you seem to have.

Something was wrong with Bocanegra (which seems to have just been happening at that club) because he was not starting, and definitely not playing as much as he had been before. Whether it was him or the coach, or whatever, something was up, and it seemed to have some effect on the team. Eddie Johnson was never a good option, and to be honest, I am surprised that they bought him in the first place. And Keller is past it, at least when it comes to playing in the Prem. But that is not to say that their contributions at some point were not pivotal to Fulham's success. McBride, Dempsey, Boca, and Keller all helped them stay up the year before. But last season, it was clear that a couple of them were not up to the grade needed to stay alive in the Prem. So, the players that have replaced the guys who left, have greatly improved the squad. That has nothing to do with them being American. It just means that they replaced the players they thought they could improve on. I doubt for one minute they thought that they needed to replace most of the American's on the team. They probably just named the guys they thought they could do without, and moved on from there.

I don't mind Houston, only cause they are pretty consistent at staying in the upper table. Inconsistency ****es me off.
