I would have thought Everton would be slightly higher.

Dunno really. In the 1970s and 1980s they were one of the best supported teams in the country, and a member of the big five. Seems their slump in form in recent years has seen their attendances drop.

If it was done on accumulative attendance instead of average Everton would be basically near the top, but that also comes from them being around a lot longer than some of the other clubs.

I think Spurs are moving down that list whilst other clubs must be moving higher. We'll probably be overtaken by Arsenal and Newcastle in the next few seasons unless we build our new stadium soon.

Did some quick thinking in my head and...
Newcastle literally need about 5-6 years to overtake you.
Arsenal, 2-3 years.

It's interesting looking back through some of Napoli's attendances. They must have had a very large and loyal fanbase because they were the best or one of the best supported clubs in Italy for much of the sixties, seventies, and eighties.

Default All Time English Football Attendances

Hello King Osgood 1690

I accessed this information & read with great interest.

I would be grateful if you could let me know:

1. The source/ sources from which these figures were compiled.
2. The period/ seasons which are covered.

I've had real problems in locating records for all English attendances prior to World War 2, so it would be really useful to find some reliable resource/es for this.

Thanks a lot

Regards

James

I think the list is quite a good measure of how 'big' a club is, I know there are other factors but that's a good list.

Interesting numbers.

Didn't think Spurs would come in 3rd.
