Abou Treika loan still in the balance – Al Qaeyi

Ahli marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi said that the club are yet to decide on loaning out Mohamed Abou-Treika to Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com that Ahli have received an official offer from Hilal to loan Abou-Treika until the end of the current season.

However the director confirmed that Hilal's request was forwarded to the club's football committee, which will accept or reject the offer in its next meeting.

In another issue, Al-Qaeyi denied that the Red Devils have held talks to sign Iraq keeper Nour Sabri in January.

Ismaili earlier revealed that they were close on signing Sabri on free transfer, before the guardian's agent said that Ahli were interested in signing him.

Al-Qaeyi also denied that Ahli are planning to trade midfielder Hassan Mostafa and striker Ahmed Hassan Farag with Zamalek sweeper Hani Saied, confirming that neither club made any official enquiry about such exchange.

As a matter of fact Zamalek have participated in recent Arab Champions Leagues and failed to even get to the semifinals. So they would lose to Adelaide and according to recent form they would lose about 2-0 or 3-0. You have no idea how bad Zamalek is doing right now!!

They don't. They were voted the club of the century by CAF. So they just adopted the title into their badge. And title wise, they are the club of the century!

Read an interesting article on Fifa.com that the manager of Ahly said that everone in Egypt, in Cairo in particular believe that Ahly are the best club in the world with the best players...i'll try to get the article now, because his response was "they need to be realistic" which was met if a bit of an uproar from the Egyptian fans on the site that disagreed with him and said they are the best..lol

Yeah I read those statements several times. He is kind of wrong and kind of right. Nobody in their right mind thinks Ahly is better than Barca, Madrid, ManU, Milan, etc. But there are a lot of Egyptians (especially the press) who think that Ahly should be able to at least compete with them. There is a difference between BETTER and COMPETE.

Jose fears stimulated opponents

Ahli coach Manuel Jose warned his players that other clubs will want to take advantage of Ahli's lost confidence after the Club World Cup disappointment.

The Red Devils endured a dismal World Cup campaign, where two defeats at the hands of CONCACAF champions Pachuca and Adelaide United of Australia saw the team finish the tournament in last position.

Ahli's official website stated that Jose asked his players on Monday to forget the World Cup experience in order to focus on the club's upcoming domestic commitments.

The Portuguese tactician also warned that opponents will be eager to get positive results from the Cairo giants.

Jose added that all big teams suffer bad spells from time to time, and it's their ability to bounce back which makes the difference.

The league holders are currently fifth in the league table on 20 points and five games in hand.

Zamalek rubbish Saied swap deal

Zamalek board refuted media reports claiming that the Cairo giants intend to swap Hani Saied for Ahli duo Ahmed Hassan Farag and Hassan Mostafa.

The five-time African champions announced on their official website that the 28-year-old is an indispensable figure, and all allegations about his departure are completely groundless.

The international sweeper, who joined Zamalek from Ismaili last summer after a prolonged saga, had previously revealed his intention to play for the Red Devils.

The White Knights are holding a press conference on Tuesday to reveal further details about their potential signings and team reshuffle.
-------

Fell sorry for the player. He didn't even want to go to Zamalek. lol

It's not spamming if I make it's own thread and put all it's related topics in it. And yes I agree that people need to learn more about different clubs. I hope to put video's of their games in the future so that people who are interested can watch Ahly more than just 2 Club World Cup matches and think they have a right to judge a team.

It's a bit hard to call them club of the century if they aren't well known isn't it? No offence of course, I would not like to make my self sound like an annoying kid

And? Don't make this a racist discussion. African football is probably the most underrated because people picture starving children and worn torn countries. But there is a lot of talent still waiting to be discovered in Africa especially in North Africa. The reasons many North Africans don't move to Europe at early ages are:

1) The clubs are rich and pay the players well
2) The leagues are at a high level compared to sub Saharan leagues
3) Some players are conservative and don't want to leave home
4) The players receive lots of praise and love from their fans and are very popular @ home

Only after achieving everything they possibly can with their clubs, do they start considering to move to Europe. But then its too late. Before you know it, the players are fast approaching 30 if they haven't passed it yet. Take Aboutrika for example.

And that's not just people from outside of Africa either. There are a lot of Africans that ignore Egypt when it comes to the African Cup. They had to learn their lesson twice in a row!

Egyptian football is starting to get better and within 10 years, I think Egypt will become a big force in world level just like Cameroon and Nigeria.
