I agree on all counts.

EDIT:

3-0. Looks like Allardyce is doing a Redknapp.

With one match, and only 60 minutes in, it's hard to say that he's "pulling a Redknapp". Redknapp completely turned Tottenham around, with only 60 minutes played in big Sam's first match it's prematurely to say he's "pulling a Redknapp".

Yes, but before we looked defalted - we are looking motivated right now, just like Tottenham did. Granted, Redknapp did lots over many matches, and right now Sam has just pulled off a 3 goal scoreline which is hardly something to shout about in the great scheme of things, but we have the will to win back - like Harry Redknapp gave Tottenham.

Hell, it might not even be the mangers tactics, just the new attitude he brings and a fresh for the players to start again.

I hope he does pull off a Redknapp, though.

Premature to say he is pulling a Redknapp for two reasons. 1) you are playing a newly promoted team 2) you are playing home to a team that has yet to win a game away.

Not surprising really. The simple fact that a new manager is at the helm has given Blackburn a shot in the arm. I did not see the game, so I cannot comment on the manner in which Allardyce had you playing, but I will say that once his tactics and mindset are ingrained into the minds of the players, such scorelines will become a rarity.

SBS The World Game - Grella ready to fire: Emerton

Brett Emerton is tipping injury-cursed Vinnie Grella to put his woes behind him in the New Year and come out firing for club and country.

Blackburn in Holman chase----
Grella snapped up by Rovers----
Emerton signs new Rovers deal----

Grella, to some the heartbeat of the Socceroos, has made just four appearances since joining his national team-mate Emerton at Blackburn in a $9m switch from Torino.

But the calf injury which has left him languishing on the sidelines while Rovers have languished on the field is finally abating – and Grella is due to return to training after Christmas as he seeks to show fans what they have missed.

With Rovers revitalised since the arrival of Sam Allardyce and a World Cup assignment against Japan looming on February 11, Emerton said: ‘’Vinnie’s come wanting to play and impress and been kept out the majority of the time by an injury he’s never really had before.

‘’But he’s in line to return to training next week and we want him back ASAP.

‘’I’m sure it wont be long before he’s back playing again and we need him. He’s a strong character and a great player and he’ll bounce back for sure.

‘’He brings a lot when he’s out there with his ball winning skills, his passing and leadership.

‘’I think we’ve missed him and it’s been frustrating because all he wants to do is play’’

With Rovers immersed in a fight for their lives at the foot of the Premier League – they’re second-bottom, three points from safety – Emerton believes Grella is just the man for a fight.

‘’In our position he’s just the sort player we need because he’s very composed as a player and knows how to handle pressure situations.

‘’He’s made a big impression in the dressing room, we just want to see him out there making a big impression on the pitch now.’’

While feeling ‘’sorry’’ for sacked managerial novice Paul Ince, Emerton feels the arrival of Big Sam Allardyce will be the catalyst for a Rovers rebound.

Rovers’ first game under the former Bolton and Newcastle boss was a 3-0 battering of Stoke at the weekend, with Emerton adding: ‘’We still have half the season to get ourselves out of trouble and I feel we’ll go on a bit of a run now.

‘’Sam only really had one session with us before the Stoke game and picked pretty much the same players and played the same system. Truth is we were really up for it, we knew it was almost a must-win game and just and got the job done.

‘’ This is my sixth season and we’ve not been in such a difficult situation before in my experience.

‘’But we’re not panicking and we know we have the quality to get ourselves out of it. The new boss is a big presence and is working hard on the organisational side of the team and that will go a long way to making sure we stay up.

‘’I feel for Paul Ince, we never got any luck at all he was here and hopefully he’ll go on and become a great manager. I think even if he’d stayed we would have turned things around.’’

Emerton missed last month’s fortuitous 1-0 World Cup win in Bahrain through injury, but is itching to return against Japan, having shown a new found ruthless streak in his new more advanced role with four goals in the 3-1 and 4-0 routs of Qatar this year.

‘’With three wins, we’re getting close to qualifying and I’m hoping the job will be done soon,’’ he added.

‘’Japan is a huge game. If we win it then we’ll be in an excellent position. We’re 1-1 against them in big tournaments. We beat them at then World Cup in 2006 and they knocked us out of the Asian Cup last year.

‘’We’re evenly matched. But we back ourselves against anybody in our group, whether we are at home or away.’’

Sky Sports | Football | Transfer Centre | Speculation | Rovers rebuffed in Irish bid

Wow.

I went to school with him, from P3 right up until 5th Year.

He's a brilliant footballer. Not surprised at all he's getting some recognition over there.

Well in Darren lad.
