Pointless tournament, in terms of watching and supporting it. But, it can create some good matchups, and its useful for FIFA to get that dry run for the next year

If 2005 is any indication, Italy will probably bring a close to normal squad.

Check out the squads from 2005.

2005 FIFA Confederations Cup squads

Ignore the fact that everyone was born on the same day, and is only three years old.

I don't think we would, to be honest. I think we'd put in our youngsters like Giovinco, Nocerino, Dessena, Santacroce, etc.

Well, yeah, its also a good time to blood some youngsters through, especially if you possibly plan on playing them the next year.

Yeah, probably what Lippi intends. I'd like to see him test out/give more experience to:
Giovinco
Dessena
De Silvestri
Santacroce
Davide Di Gennaro
Russotto
Lanzafame
Rannocchia

Then throw in some experienced players here and there to keep the team glued together.

this tournament isnt like the FIFA Club World Cup. This is where you prepare yourself for the World Cup the following year. So it would be kinda of pointless to put a bunch of youngsters who will not play in the World Cup in this tournament.

Yeah, but if you don't play the youngsters, then they won't have any experience. This is the perfect opportunity. It has no affect on the World Cup the next year, and you can play some very good sides.
