I was able to speak this afternoon with Livorno CEO Roberto Spinelli, who informed that the Serie A risers are indeed trying to land both Landon Donovan and Ricardo Clark. Agent Richard Motzkin, who represents both, also confirmed the ongoing talks.

While it's not quite clear precisely how advanced each set of negotiations are, they are both well beyond the "hello" stage. The key to a Donovan switch, which would take place in January, seems to be Livorno coming up with some sponsor backing for the transfer fee/player wages.

This would be a real good move for Clark, imo he has more to gain and learn by moving to Italy, if he can get playing time I think we would see a real big improvement in his play, seeing as he is still a bit raw.

A year after losing potential draftees Marcus Tracy and Mike Grella to Europe, MLS looks set to lose out on another top prospect.
Sources tell SBI that Wake Forest forward Cody Arnoux is preparing to bypass his final year of eligibility to pursue a professional career in Europe. An All-American who led Wake Forest in goals last season with 17, Arnoux is said to also be working on securing an Italian passport through family, which would make a move abroad easier. Everton has been mentioned as one of the clubs interested.
Arnoux has spent the summer playing for the PDL's Carolina Dynamo.

I was unsure about this with myself. On one hand, I think he may end up like Peterlin, and go straight to the reserves.

But, on the other hand, he did leave school early for this opportunity -- which to me indicates that he might be further along, and therefore, may have more of a chance to be closer to the first team.

No!! I haven't even heard about Cody leaving! This sucks, he was gonna be brilliant this year. Also, I'm not quite sure if he's ready but it may be a good move for his career. I just really hope it's not too early if he does end up leaving.

Clint Dempsey Scores Opener in preseason

With Fulham's first competitive match of the season taking place on Thursday, it was a strong line-up picked by Roy Hodgson against Peterborough on Saturday.

The Cottagers will take on FK Vetra in Lithuania in the Europa League, but faced a tough challenge in Darren Ferguson's Peterborough.
Clint Dempsey opened the scoring for the Cottagers in the 22nd minute, after a one-two with Bobby Zamora.
Zamora himself scored the second after 36 minutes, helped by good work from Erik Nevland, who came close to adding a third moments later but shot just wide.
Fulham didn't have to wait long to make it 3-0 though, with Zamora getting his second just before the break.
After half-time, Pascal Zuberbuhler replaced David Stockdale in the Fulham goal, and a mistake by him allowed Peterborough back into the game on 52 minutes through Aaron McLean.
The home side then drew level in the final minutes of the match with a brace from substitute George Boyd, the equaliser coming from the penalty spot.

i still cant get over that celebration by donovan after that beautiful goal in the confed cup final. ME! ME! haha that was great. He deserves a bigger chance but I hope he sticks around the galaxy to help them go far in the mls

According to Corriere di Livorno, Ricardo Clark and Livorno are expected to finalize a deal in the coming days after Livorno and the Houston Dynamo reached an agreement on a transfer.

Seems that it's bound to happen now, would be a real big opportunity for him, once the stories about him and Donovan came out I mentioned that I think this move would help Clark more and I stand with that
