Troy Perkins has finally been called up (for the Gold Cup), but it couldn't have come at a worse time. 19 out of 24 possible points from the latest matches, and we've finnaly had luck on our side and been playing fairly good.. Our back-up GK is not on Troy's level, so this isn't good for my team; Vålerenga.

He's had a few mistakes, but trust me when I say that the keepers in Tippeligaen have had an amazingly, stunning, fanstatic season.. of bloopers, and Troy has had a few, but still rated highly, especially by us supporters.

Anyone know if he has a chance to start a few matches? I'm guessing USA is calling up a few players that are a) Not capped and/or b) talents?

Hmm.. He's already been capped 3 times for Germany, so he can't play for USA. I'm sure this is the rules?

He earned his first cap earlier this year, I'm pretty sure it was in a win agaisnt Sweden but don't quote me on that. I'm not too sure who will start for us at GK, Jon Busch (08 MLS Keeper of the Year) and Kaiserslautern's Luis Robles were both called up, Robles has been training with the US in the Confederations Cup, it's a toss up to me really. I think Busch will be the main guy, with Perkins second and Robles a close third.

FIFA changed the rules about players switching nations, and since those 3 caps were in friendlies, he's eligible to play for us later this summer/fall. He declared a few weeks ago that he would like to play for the US.

You're right, he got his first against Sweden. I actually watched that match, but completely forgot about him playing

Didn't know they changed the rules. I knew he could switch nations if he's only played for the u-21, u-19 etc, but fair enough.. Friendlies for the main squad are no more important than a u-21 WC/Euro match, atleast imo.

Altidore: I Don’t Want To Go Back To Villarreal - Goal.com

I don't think he should've said that, this summer Jozy has been quite impressive seeing as he just came off surgery and no playing time, I think he has 4 goals so far, maybe 5. Villarreal have already offloaded some strikers and Rossi may go as well, so he's up there on the pecking order, in my mind 3rd (Behind Rossi and Llorente) I think he should fight for this job, he will have to compete with their new signing Moreno, and the fact that Pellegrini is gone, but I think he can beat this guy out. Don't give up Jozy.

That being said, right now Fulham looks better than Villarreal, and if he can go there it's a plus.

I think he should stick it out at Villarreal, and earn a place there. That can do wonders for his mental strength. Moving again seems like the easy way out.

Yeah, he should stay, he can make it and do well for them, I know it.

I just checked Villarreal's squad list on wikipedia, they only have 3 true strikers (they are trying to get the Russian guy from Spurs though), so he will be up there in the pecking order, he will get starts in the Copa del Ray and League games, he will get playing time, he just needs to fight for it.

Altidore should stay at Villareal... he's young... one of the Mexicans abroad, Guillermo Franco (striker), is said to be on his way out of the club... so, Altidore will most likely see more playing time...

*Following up on reports that Olympiakos has taken interest in USA forward Jozy Altidore, the Insider has learned that the Greek club has, indeed, stepped forward for a possible loan arrangement with Villarreal. An English club (reportedly Fulham) and multiple La Liga teams are also in the mix for a loan. Discussions between Altidore's reps and the clubs have commenced and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.

I'd like to know more about those multiple La Liga teams, and if they are in fact in La Liga. I'd prefer him to grow there, my list is:

1. Stay at Villarreal
2. Loan to a La Liga side
3. Fulham
4. Olympiakos/Anywhere else.

Everton is a good side, but their midfield is stacked right now (when healthy that is), I'm afraid that Bradley would be riding pine.

Patriots > Mexicans.

Maybe that's a bit harsh, but with DeMerit showing his quality throughout the tournament that means we can put Bocanegra out wide, and have Bornstein cover, and yeah Bornstein is not an amazing defender, but he is decent and if he can step his game up I'm fine with having those two as our left backs.

Beasley shouldn't be called up for the Mexico game, he needs to get the message.

Fulham offer Eddie Johnson to Crystal Palace

03.07.09 | Andrew Slevison
Fulham have put striker Eddie Johnson up for a loan move to Crystal Palace.
The U.S. international has struggled to gain regular first team football at Craven Cottage and was sent out on loan to Cardiff City last season.
Despite having two years to run on his contract, Johnson has again been put up for loan with Fulham targeting the Eagles who are considering the offer.
"We've had a phone call about him from his agent - but we don't know if we are going to follow it up,” said Eagles boss Neil Warnock.
"It's an option."

It is tribalfootball.com so we will see how reliable it is...
