Celtic left-back Lee Naylor could join Sunderland after the two clubs reportedly agreed a £2million deal for the player.
Naylor, 28, moved to Parkhead from Wolves in August 2006 for just £600,000 and quickly established himself as a reliable player who put in a string of top-quality performances both domestically and in the Champions League. However, Naylor failed to perform at such a consistently high level throughout his second season and he has been widely-expected to leave this summer amid the suggestion he wanted to return south to reunited with his family. According to the News of the World, Sunderland boss Roy Keane offered £2million for Naylor and Celtic accepted the deal. If the report is accurate, Naylor now have to decide if he wants to try and agree personal terms. Celtic have been linked with a number of left-backs already this summer, making Naylor's departure seem a matter of "when" rather than "if," although boss Gordon Strachan has yet to make any major signings apart from Paddy McCourt from Derry City. Ok keano anyone else you want, or how bout the whole team while youre at it? Anyways, i like Naylor and think he's real dependable and loyal, although it may be time for him to go, i hear portsmouth are interested as well. Anyone else think that 2million is rather much? Maybe it's just me, i mean sure milk them for all theyre worth, it just seems fishy (it is a rumor then again) |

Couple of interesting transfer stories today bhoys, looks like it could be a busy end to the week
![]() Gabriel Tamas closes in on £3.5m Celtic switch as Bobo Balde is released on free Jul 15 2008 By Craig Swan And Neil Cameron GABRIEL TAMAS edged closer to a dream £3.5million move to Celtic last night. And as the Romania star prepares to check in, Bobo Balde is checking out after being handed a free transfer. But Balde could still partner Tamas in the Hoops' central defence during pre-season as Gordon Strachan will allow him to play some friendly matches to help the giant defender find a new club. However, it's the swoop for Tamas that will excite the Celtic support. The 24-year-old played all 270 minutes of his country's Group C campaign at Euro 2008, helping them draw with Italy and France. Celtic were given the green light to open negotiations with the player after a weekend of talks with the president of current club Auxerre, Jean-Claude Hamel. Manager Jean Fernandez said last night: "I expected to see Gabriel back at training today after he was given an extended break following his hectic summer with Romania. "But I got a call first thing from his agent to confirm he was on his way to Glasgow to talk with Celtic. "If a deal goes through I will be delighted for Gabriel. He's a big, big player with huge ambitions in the game and Celtic are the right club to match them." Meanwhile, Celtic and Balde have reached an amicable agreement to part company. The 32-year-old had a year left on his £28,000-a-week contract but has been a fringe man for 18 months. It is believed he will make his final bow during Celtic's pre-season programme in England and Portugal. Samaras to complete Celtic switch Greek striker Georgios Samaras is set to sign a three-year contract with Scottish champions Celtic. The 23-year-old impressed Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan when he was on loan from Manchester City last season. City bought Samaras from Dutch side Heerenveen for £6m in January 2006 and will make a substantial loss in offloading the Greek international. Celtic are also set to land Auxerre defender Gabriel Tamas, 24, for £3.5m after receiving permission for talks. Samaras scored six goals for Celtic last season, although he failed to break up the first-choice strike partnership of Scott McDonald and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. He played for Greece at Euro 2008 and was then given clearance not to travel with the rest of the Manchester City squad to Germany for pre-season training. He was signed by former City boss Stuart Pearce and went on to score only 12 goals for the club. Samaras quickly fell out of favour when Sven-Goran Eriksson replaced Pearce as manager last summer, making only five league appearances last season before moving to Glasgow in the January transfer window. Stoke, Hull, Lazio, Besiktas, Feyenoord and Werder Bremen were also reported to have been interested in landing the forward. |

CELTIC Football Club can today confirm that centre-forward, Georgios Samaras, has signed a three-year contract with the Scottish champions.
The Greek internationalist put pen-to-paper on a new contract this morning, having made 21 appearances and scoring six goals, including five vital championship counters, in a four-month loan spell last season. “I am really happy with this move and I think both sides are really happy,” Samaras told celticfc.net. “I wanted to stay here, Celtic wanted to keep me here and both sides are happy with this transfer. “It was the best moment in my career so far,” added Samaras, “and I am really happy that I have signed here and I hope that more good moments come for both me and the club.” “Celtic FC is one of the best teams in Europe with a very distinguished football manager,” he commented. “His unique way and unconditional desire to see me in his squad persuaded me to sign for the club. “The same goes for the fans. They showed their support to me and with their dedication and excitement, they helped me decide that this is the right club for me. “The important element for my decision, however, was the fact that there is a family atmosphere around here. “We all respect each other and help each other, there is understanding and tolerance and these are all necessary ingredients for the success of a club and for the personal development of a football player. ITS OFFICIAL... WOOHOO! The whole article is here--- Samaras pens permanent deal

From Celtic website:
no loan agreement for john kennedy Newsroom Staff FOLLOWING a number of reports in the media today, Celtic Football Club would like to clarify that, contrary to these reports, there has been no agreement finalised between Celtic and Motherwell for John Kennedy to join the Fir Park club on loan. There are, in fact, others clubs who have also expressed an interest in the Celtic defender. |

I also like the Algarve Football Tournament Format.
Wonder if this should be used in real leagues! Tournament format The tournament will be a modified league system where teams will get 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. In addition to this a point will be awarded for every goal scored which will promote attractive attacking football. So a 3-3 draw would get a team the same number of points as a 1-0 victory. |

i think it was played behind closed doors and not let out publicly.... heres a translated romanian page of the match report, still hard to read though. Translated version of http://www.romaniansoccer.ro/stiri/2931/amical-celtic-glasgow--unirea-urziceni-2-2.htm i think there was something on ssn that said Scott Mcdonald scored a last minute equaliser. Score ended 2-2 INTRESTING FIND!!

C/Seltic son. When referring to the type of music or ancient civilization/group of people say "Keltic" everything else is said "Seltic" but you'll hear different people say different things. To each is own i suppose.

Celtic to release Balde on free
![]() Balde played just four games for Celtic last season Celtic will allow defender Bobo Balde to leave on a free transfer, if he can find a suitable deal elsewhere. The 32-year-old Guinea international has a year of his contract to run but has not been a first team regular under manager Gordon Strachan. Bolton were keen on the centre half in January but Balde picked up an injury at the African Nations Cup. This time last year, Balde turned down an approach from Sunderland, who were prepared to pay £1.5m for him. Balde moved to Celtic Park from Toulouse seven years ago but has played just 14 times in the past two seasons. ![]() A TRUE LEGEND![]()
