A few things:
Can't wait for Celtic vs Man City (Richard Dunne, ever thought of living in Glasgow?) and vs Spurs- so excited. Why have they randomly put videos of McGeady up on the Celticfc.net homepage? I'm just nervous and very suspicious. Of course it could just be a form of gloating that we have the best player in the world. Im still waiting for a strong left back. Atouba, Antunes, Boulahrouz, who's it gonna be? YNWA |

I'm with you on that one bostonbhoy a strong left back and a striker should be the priority, i like Rat but can't see us paying the figures quoted, the Antunes loan deal sounds more up our street with the bulk of the kitty going on a striker, if you look through Strachan's signings he's paid very little on the defence and always saves the cash for the creative players, not a bad policy when you consider our budget etc.
Do we all think we can get better value than Sammi for £3m?, i'd be inclined to say yes but would struggle to give you another name!

Bhoys To Bag Samaras
Celtic are on the verge of wrapping up the cut-price signing of Greek striker Georgios Samaras, according to reports… The Guardian claims the Glasgow giants will seal the deal in a matter of days now that Manchester City have backed down on their initial ₤3million price tag. Samaras was sent to Parkhead on loan in January after a shocking stint with the Citizens, for whom he scored just eight goals in 55 appearances following his ₤6million switch from Heerenveen in 2006. Mark Hughes is keen to clear out the detritus during his first summer in charge at Eastlands, and the Premier League outfit have hence dropped their asking price to ₤2million. Lazio have also expressed interest in Samaras in recent weeks, but it now appears all but certain the 23-year-old will commit his future to the Hoops. There's a story for ya Bostonbhoy |

Chelsea wanted to sign up Boruc
![]() ![]() AXED Chelsea boss Avram Grant has revealed that he targeted Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc before he was replaced by Phil Scolari. But the Israeli coach quickly discovered that the Parkhead star's price tag made the prospect of any deal impossible. Grant was looking ahead and wanted to go after Boruc as cover for Stamford Bridge No.1 Petr Cech. But behind the scenes moves established it would take mega money to land the Polish internationalist. Grant was then dumped by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. And, after watching Boruc's performances in Euro 2008, he believes his value has soared so much that not many teams could afford him. Grant revealed: "Boruc's performances in Euro 2008 were no surprise to me as I knew about him from the Scottish league. "I wanted to take him to Stamford Bridge and did an overview to check how much we would have to pay. But it appeared that Celtic expected a huge amount of money. "Now, the price tag is unreal. I hear, after strong performances at the European Championships, that he is now worth between £10m and £15m. I know immediately that nobody will pay that kind of money for a keeper." Celtic do not want to lose their No.1 and, unless some kind of massive offer comes in between now and the end of August, he will be staying on for a fourth season in Scotland. The Pole has been quoted as saying in the past that he would consider playing in a bigger league if the chance comes up, but his performances in the Champions League and for his country have seen him valued as one of the most expensive keepers in the game. Grant continued: "Boruc is a top quality goalkeeper. He is brave, he is confident and he won't get scared by anybody. Having a goalkeeper like this means you are midway to success. "But I repeat, these kind of amounts are not paid for a keeper and I think he will be in Scotland next season." ![]() Thats quite inresting actually... ![]() ![]() but he is worth that amount of money |

Artur Boruc has been told to leave Celtic if he ever wants to prove himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
Boruc produced the most outstanding goalkeeping displays of Euro 2008, single-handedly keeping Poland’s hopes alive until the final round of group game fixtures. The tournament only served to justify Celtic’s £10 million valuation of the charismatic shot-stopper, a valuation that has frightened off Milan. Boruc’s future remains unclear, but Poland goalkeeping coach Franz Hoek has told him he needs to leaves Celtic Park now. "In terms of ability, Artur deserves to be spoken about in the same breath as the likes of Spain's Iker Casillas or Holland's Edwin van der Sar, who I worked with for a number of years at Ajax,” Hoek told The Daily Record. "All great keepers are characterised by the fact they don't make errors when it counts, when the pressure is intense, and Boruc is in that category. "Having someone in goal like that can be the difference between your team reaching the next round, or going out. "An average team with a great keeper will achieve more than they deserve, while a great team with an average keeper will lose matches they deserve to win. "During Euro 2008 Artur didn't make any mistakes and now people rate him as world class. "However, in order to be considered among the best, you must prove yourself every week against top opposition in Spain, England, Italy or Germany. "It would be fantastic for Artur to be competing at that level on a regular basis and that's the challenge he needs. It's the challenge every great player needs. "If I was in his skin, I would be looking for the next challenge. Perhaps he has achieved all he can in Glasgow and it may be a good time for him to move because the interest in him has grown after the finals.” THATS A LOAD OF lalalalalalalala... Sorry for the multiple posts! |

those are both really interesting stories DECO. It doesnt make sense that Boruc would leave yet. He has no reason. If anything he hasnt accomplished all he can in Glasgow. He needs to lead us to Champions League glory.

Quick question for everyone, any news on where you can pick up the 08/09 home kit? Can't find it at the online store, just the away kit. It's been out for almost two months, was it not release publicly yet? Last edited by RealRobbieKeane; 14-07-2008 at 04:53 PM.. |
