Yep, it's near puke inducing listening to the BBC or ITV say "Ronaldo's Portugal", and mention his name every 5 seconds during a game he's playing in.

Can you imagine the lalalalalafest that would have happened had Ronaldo scored a goal similar to Ballacks free kick? I think Ronaldos free kick that hit the post got more recognition from the commentary than Ballacks belter did an all.

He is a good player, but he's taken the word overrated to a whole new level.

Why do people hate Ronaldo so much?

Let's see:

He's rich.

He plays football for a living.

He's famous.

He gets the hottest chicks.

Oh yeah...he's rich...did I mention that already?

And the most important part...he doesn't linger all day on a pathetic message board talking about men.

I don’t reckon it’s any of those reasons. Supporters tend to hate players mainly (although not always) because they play for a rival club (I'm as guilty of this as anyone).

Let’s face it…Ronaldo or any other footballer could look like a bulldog licking urine off a stingy nettle and be as bent as a butcher’s hook but rivals supporters would still despise him.

Coming from the fella who made a thread on the best fat players?

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Ronaldo, but he is overrated - not a matter of hating someone, i'm sure alot could point out some of their clubs own players who are overrated, but hearing his name mentioned every 5 seconds and referred to as "Ronaldo's Portugal", it takes the right p155.

Stop hating a guy who is richer, gets good looking women, is known all over the world, and is actually the best player on the planet right now. What do you expect? The more you muppets speak of him...the more popular he is.

See, this is why the creators of FIFA are dummies....yes you know who I am talking about...they let their petty personal bias get in the way of the truth. He's a great player...now pay him his just dues.

Now addressing my previous post- Yes coming from me. Who made a post to praise out of shape atheletes who can kick butt.

What's wrong with you people. That's the problem with this message board...everyone thinks they are correct in their little heads.

Then reality kicks in when they step away from their computer.

Jealousy is a ***** and the more people deny thats the overwhelming reason they hate him the more they look ridiculous. I'm no Ronaldo supporter either but I could care less about the person, I dont watch sports to find a rolemodel. Selfish or not, Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

Your whinging and whining about people 'hating' certain players (I personally don't hate Ronaldo I think he's class for the record), makes me wonder if you've ever been to a match in your life because you don't seem to appreciate how things like rivalries and the banter that goes on between supporters works.

Every single match I’ve ever been to the home/away supporters will single out an opposition player for abuse – I know I’ve done it, it’s nothing to do with the reason’s you’ve given, it’s because they’re a rival player and that means they’re fair game.

You've said nothing yet that has convinced me that you’re anything more than a clueless no-mark yourself.

This is purely 150 years of football life talking in this thread.
If the guy was on YOUR team he wouldn't be so overrated to you. Since he's not and he's absolutely ****ing phenomenal, you are going to hate him more. Specially if he won more trophies than your team did.

While I'll certainly concede that loathing a member of your club or teams rival is acceptable, the majority of comments I've read on this board have yet to state that it's due to him playing at Man United.

Instead, the description is more inclined to go; " He's overrated. He's just a pretty boy. He's selfish. etc ". I could absolutely hate my rival in a given sport but would be man enough to concede that a players gifts and talents are at a level some would call great.

Most just come off with a pungent stench of jealousy. Maybe that's the way people in Europe voice their displeasure for rivals, I guess. But at least acknowledge the talent/impact.

Bullseye. Pretty much the point that I was trying to get accross.

Yes, more than likely.

That’s a good point. As much as I dislike certain people in football (Henry and Wenger because of their past and present connections with Arsenal), Hand on heart I would love to have seen either of them at my club instead of Arsenal.

I think you’ve pretty much identified the reason that amenrah73 couldn’t. It is jealousy but not the jealousy he mentioned. It’s not because a player is wealthy, has a pretty girlfriend or drives and expensive car. None of that comes into it. Supporters dislike certain players because they play for their rivals and not their team.

Why do every1 talk **** about Ronaldo all the time just because he made all of englands and the top clubs of europe's defences look like a bunch of no-brainer lalalalalalas last season?

Seriously, if you don't stop this hatred im gonna dress up like a woman, go on youtube and make a "Leave Ronaldo Alone" video, then get famous, be a youtube celebrity for about 1 week, then fade away into nothing and everyone will remember me as that weird looking person who they couldnt decide what gender he was, who went on youtube and videotaped himself while he was sitting under a blanket crying cause everybody hated Cristiano Ronaldo...

How bout that? ^^

While even with my greatest rival, I'd struggle to want them on my club/team, I think we definitely see eye to eye. Though, to acknowledge that is perhaps due more to maturity than anything else.

I would say it's very close between Ronaldo & Messi but have you not seen how Kaka played all year? Ronaldinho hasn't been good for 2 seasons now either.

Ronaldo is a midfielder who has scored more goals this season than most strikers could dream of. Plus i think he has more to his game than Messi, so Ronaldo will be rightly crowned World Player of the Year..

Too many ****in simpletons on here it seems.

Reason I find Ronaldo overrated (Since when did that mean lalalala anyway?) is the fact he hasn't been anywhere near as influential as he has been at Manure, and there have been far better in the tournament so far, he hasn't even been the best in the Portugal side YET all the commentators are inclined to shout his name everytime Portugal is mentioned, not only that, it's become "Ronaldo's Portugal"... So how do other top class players like Carvalho and Deco feel? None more so than Deco whose actually been working the cogs for them so far.

As I said, Van Persie and Robben did more in 30-40 minutes against France than Ronaldo did in 3 games.

Quality player he might be, but he is VERY overrated - like I said, if one or two of the simpletons on here don't like it and can't reason with it, please do **** off and stop trying to make out it's purely down to hatred or jealousy, very childish, and sounds like it's coming from his fans if anything, bit surprised I haven't seen Matieo in here to defend him yet actually.

I'm starting to wish we could put a swear filter on the word Ronaldo, because I'm getting sick of hearing about him
