Default Portugal new possible coach

Its not official but i heard that Zico, thats right Zico one of the best players in the game might coach the Portugal squad, just a rumor, Also because he said he would love to train in Portugal cause his father liked sporting and Portuguese football, and he was Portuguese.

Portugal In Zico Talks

Zico has been out of work since he left Fenerbahçe, whom he guided to their best Champions League finish in the history of the club, following problems over his renewal with the Turkish club.

The federation is interested in appointing a Portuguese-speaking coach and Zico seems to top its list of targets as it is interested in keeping the very same enthusiastic spirit around the squad that has existed since the arrival of Big Phil in 2003.

The Portuguese paper suggests that the federation has already held talks with the Brazilian coach and that his wages will be almost the same as Scolari's current ones in case he is appointed.

Although Zico has denied contacts with the federation, sources close to the coach have confirmed that the 55-year-old tactician is relishing the prospect of taking the reins of the Portuguese squad, who will play Germany for the Euro 2008 Quarter-finals.

The Portuguese Football Federation will only confirm Scolari's successor after the end of Euro 2008. Palmeiras' Vanderlei Luxemburgo, FC Porto's Jesualdo Ferreira and former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz are also names linked with the manager's post of Portugal.

Mourinho would have been the best option if he wasn't at Inter Milan now.
