Mascherano had the exact same deal.

I am pretty sure West Ham cannot have him back this summer as the Loan deal was 2 years

Yeah, but unless it was stated otherwise in the contract, doesn't the team who owns the player have the right to recall them at any point?

it's different with mascherano and tevez...they aren't really owned by west ham...they're owned by that kia guy and MSI...or well he's owned by west ham aswell i think officially because it's not allowed otherwise...

it's very complicated this

yeah, I know for a fact that in the Premier League, a third party can't own a player, so I don't know how they worked it all out. But didn't Liverpool make the Mascherano deal permanent a couple of months ago, or did they never get around to doing that?

Lucho González has sent out a come and get me plea to Atlético de Madrid after admitting that he wants to test himself in one of Europe's strongest leagues and leave Porto.

The Argentinian midfielder has been strongly linked to Los Colchoneros and has made his intentions known in order to help persuade the Spanish outfit to make their move.

Porto turned down offers for him last summer, but could relent this year after Lucho helped the team to the championship for the third time since joining from River Plate in 2005.

"Atlético is a great club. If they came for me, I would welcome that. But we will have to see what happens, but I hope that something can happen," he stated,

"It would be great because Atlético are a strong club and they have important Argentinian players like (Sergio) Agüero and Maxi. Also the coach is well known. I hope that if any deal is made it is good for the club and for me.

"The Portuguese league is not as significant as the Spanish or the Italian, for example. I hope to be able to move, although I would not despair if I had to stay here because I am comfortable and there are other Argentinians.

"In Atlético it could also depend whether Maxi stays because I understand that Liverpool are interested in him. Also, Javier Aguirre is not confirmed for next season either.

"Still, nobody has contacted me and everything I know is what I have read in the newspapers and on the internet."

Lucho was quick to state that he had no desire to leave Porto because of anything that had happened and it was just a case of him wanting to see if he could succeed at a different level.

"Porto have treated me very well. I have enjoyed it here and we have won three league titles, the Portuguese cup and the Super Cup. We have achieved some big things in a short space of time, so I am not desperate to leave," he continued.

"But I do want to test myself and see if I can play in other leagues."

Arsenal are in talks with Australia U23 captain Mark Milligan.

FoxSports Australia says Milligan, a free agent after three years at Sydney FC, has spent recent weeks training at several Premiership clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City and Fulham.

Milligan's management has confirmed they're in talks with the Gunners about a move to Emirates stadium for the defensive utility.

Milligan, who played a season under Terry Butcher at Sydney, enjoys a big reputation in Europe after his superb campaign at right-back in the 2005 U20 World Championships in Holland.

Real Madrid have held talks for Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho.

Manchester United are eyeing West Ham striker Dean Ashton.

The Daily Star says United are weighing up a summer bid for Ashton, with boss Sir Alex Ferguson keen to add a player with physical presence to his options at Old Trafford.

United currently have Manucho playing on-loan at Panathinaikos, but the Angola ace is yet to secure a UK work permit.

Liverpool have opened talks with Aston Villa for skipper Gareth Barry.

It's reported Liverpool have made a £10 million offer for Barry after opening formal negotiations yesterday.

It remains to be seen whether Villa manager Martin O'Neill will accept the bid for Barry who has two years to run of his current contract.
