I guess I don't quite understand the offside rule, but where there not two defenders behind Bendtner? One defender on the ground but out of bounds, and one right next to/behind him on the line?

i have a feeling he wouldn't have scored even if he was onside
it was going to go in if he didn't touch it

Yeah, I know, but I want to know why he was offside.

The rule is that there has to be one defender behind the offensive player, right? Did the linesman not think that the other player was behind him, or does the guy laying out of bounds not count, or did he make a mistake?

ok, thanks

I only saw one replay, and I thought he was onside. It doesn't matter, in the end, but I was just a little confused about the rule. I know on FIFA 08, that if you pass the ball in from a corner to the near man, and kick it straight back to the player taking the corner, I get called offsides all the time, even though there is a defender on the line at the post. I know its a game, but that has me confused as to what the exact ruling is. (Excuse my newness to the game, but I didn't start following the sport until the 06 world cup, and I very rarely get to watch a live game.)

yea the player has to be onside when the pass is given, after the pass the defenders could be at the half way line and the striker could be at the penalty box, he'll still be onside

Why is it for the champions league that they mention the stadium as Arsenal Stadium?
