i supported arsenal since i was about 7. I live in the US and at times one of the channels that i usually dont watch randomly started showing premier league games (this started in 2000 ended like 3 years later) for a certain period of time. And after the first game i watched of them (When Henry scored on that volley against Man U) I just fell in love with the team. And since Kanu was on the team at the time (I'm Nigerian) It was another huge reason why i liked arsenal.

I am a big fan of Barcelona because Ronaldino is on the cover of Fifa 08 and I assumed that whatever team he played for must be good, so I googled his name and found out that he played with Barcelona. I love playing with them. Their my favorite team. If I lived in Spain or Europe for that matter I would support them in perosn by going to games and painting my face blue and purple. I've just love to visit Camp New!!

Right now however, wearing a Ronaldino kit will have to suffice.

My dad supports them, and took me to a match against Crystal Palace aged 6, I was so enthralled, I fell asleep!! And it finished 1-1!

Have supported Utd ever since, and kept an eye on Palace too, since half of my family are Utd and the other half are Palace!

i support rangers because when i was growing up in inverness we didnt have a professional team, we had 3 teams who all played in the highland league (which is absoulute lalalala) before 2 of them merged to form inverness caley thistle. dont know why i chose rangers but i think its just from seeing them on tv before i finally managed to get to ibrox. i now go reguarly (300 mile round trip) and have even (maybe stupidly when i get older) gotten a rangers tattoo on my body. i still go to see my local team inverness when i cant afford to go to ibrox, and although i dont support another team i do like schalke & arsenal

Although my family all support Celtic and i used to go to games when i was a kid, i started to support River Plate of Argentina when the World Cup was there in 1978.Looking up books in the library (no internet in those days)about Argentine football ,i liked the look and design of their distinctive jersey and they also had a good history and throughout the years have always tried to get as much info o them as possible .
I am also the owner of several team shirts which i have bought over the years on the net and through traders

Santos because my dad always watched the games with me, and when i was just a kid at the age of 5 i saw the most beautiful crowd and team attitude i'll never see again, in any league or any cup, the 1995 Santos x Fluminense game was one of the best games of all timeeeee

AND here's the same thread from a few months ago for those who bother to search about a bit.

Why do you support your team???

See? Almost exactly the same title, just no dots!

Enjoy!

I support Fulham. Last year I was looking for a team in the premiership. I watched every game I could and one of the last two teams I saw were Watford and Fulham. The game was intense and it ended 3-3 with a bunch of spectacular goals from both sides. There was something about Fulham that just clicked for me and every since I've been a Fulham supporter(Fulham is all I play online aswell). Also McBride(my favorite player) and Bocanegra were there so I had some American ties to the club. Dempsey came along after I decided to support to them so that was cool. I can't say I have any ties to the area as I have not yet been to London but I hope that will change next winter.

No problems here. It's a good thread and one I liked quite a bit. I'm not going to repost, so I just added the thread so we could see what everyone said back then, including me.

Hmm... When I was about 5-6 I watched a football game on tv for the first time, and I was loving this team in a red t-shirt play, in the end I found out the name (Liverpool) and I supported them ever since.

I support Bodø/Glimt because it's the nearest team in the premier division when I "choose" them.
My first match was in 1996, with my father. I didn't really understand the game. I just wanted a ice cream.
When the match was done and Bodø/Glimt lost the game, I got autograph from both teams players.

In 1999 I got more interest in Bodø/Glimt because Werder Bremen was opponent in the UEFA-Cup and I "change" my status from fan to supporter. Maybe a bit successupporter(?) in 1999.

... And so in 2003 I wen't on more matches. And I still does.
Maybe 50-60% of the home matches I went to in 2007 and two away matches. The reason I went to so few, was train times.
Bodø/Glimt today is everything for me

Seriously who cares if you have a "connection" with a football club or not. if its local yes. but not international. you can't seriously say to someone thats poor and have no money that you can't support man utd or barcelona. you've gotta be kidding me! Or just love football for football and support liverpool or man utd. i was born in australia and lived in england for only 2-3 years when i was younger but support man utd and only go to the games once every few months. but i have alot of football fanatics which i play football with that supports epl teams or la liga teams. they are not going to waste a fortune going overseas. they have the same passion for the clubs they support then any other fan in the world. people just love good football thats why they support overseas teams. the likes of man utd or barcelona or any of the top clubs are not the way they are without the support of international supporters.

Supporter = A more hard core fan who sing, stand on the stadium on more than two matches in the year. (If you're a supporter, you have seasonticket and sing)

Fan = Regular person. Go on a match sometimes, but don't sing

Pubsupporter = A supporter who didn't get a season ticket or ticket for a match, but anyways sing with he's friends on the pub

Saw a game by United in 96 I think it was, was smitten from then, loved the way they played and loved the arrogance of some of the players. I used to dislike scholes though, but now I love him, strange..

Rosenborg because they are my local team.

I support Aberdeen cuz i live & was born there and also my whole family are Dons,
i always play with them on the game except sometimes when i play as Scotland national team. i am a real football supporter so i dont have to make pethetic excuses like ppl trying to cover up the fact that they are a glory hunter

They were my local team as a child and all my family support them, I didn’t have a choice in the matter – they’d have disowned me if I’d even thought about following anybody else.
