After I read this article http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/7560182 (Third email from the bottom), I decided to create this thread.
I am curious as to why you guys like/love the teams that you support. The 2006 World Cup re-introduced me to the soccer world, after not having anything to do with the sport during my teens (There wasn’t a league in my small hometown), and I currently watch any game that I can find (Got to get up at 7 a.m. Sunday to watch Manchester United play Liverpool). I support two club teams (MLS and EPL), and the U.S. national team because I’m an American. The MLS team that I follow is the Houston Dynamo. I follow them because they where the first MLS team I ever saw on TV, and they wore Orange jersey’s . Houston is also the closest team to me (10hr drive) besides Kansas City (6hr drive). The EPL team that I follow is Manchester United (Call me a glory hunter, I don’t care) . The reason that I like them is because of the Christiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney incident during the world cup. I was intrigued when I found out they where on the same team. When I got FIFA 07, I decided to play as Manchester United, and from there I started following them in real life. I also have a soft spot for Fulham because of their Americans.I want to know why you guys support your teams. Do you live near them? Did your parents support them? Or, did you play with them on FIFA? Post and let everyone know. Oh, and please, please, please don’t turn this into a glory hunter/not a real fan/can’t support more than one team, thread. I follow the Central Coast Mariners because there the local team and always want teams from the area to do well in whatever sport in may be. To be honest when i first started to follow Everton was because of Tim Cahill, but i then i realized they were a greater team than just Tim and i love watching them play and getting results. Hopefully we can continue to do well in the UEFA Cup and continue our great Carling Cup campaign.

well I support Spurs, And as a boy growing up in the UK I remember my house being Split Between my parents of all ppl when it came to Football, we lived in North London and my Dad decided that he would Support Arsenal, he even took me to a few games.
But as a yout (as a whaaat ), I was more into my Mum and I went most places with here, and as fate would have it she loved Spurs, and I don't Know man I just love the Spurs over the Gunners.I find myself still to this day having emotions for this team like we were married (and I am) so I know how it feels, never had that for Arsenal, and I never will

i support Liverpool because my brother only watched their games when i was young so they were the team that knew alot about early on. Btw waking up at 7am is nothing. The lunchtime kick-off in the EPL for us in Australia is 10:30PM or 11:30PM depending on daylight savings and the last game of the finishes around 4 or 5 in the morning.

Dunno why I support Arsenal. Something just attracted me. It helps that they play absolutely beautiful football as well. Like I've said before, there isn't even an MLS team in my region, so I don't feel attached to any of them.

i support arsenal becaus they were the first professional soccer team i ever saw play. as a kid my dad would tape game sor borrrow old ones from friends for me to watch, he even orded in some from the uk for me.i just admire the style of football they play atm and players like bergkamp and wright blew me away. i also support the mariners cos their the local team, i never really got behind the northern spirit, even though i had been spotted by one of their scouts and was set to be a long term project in terms of my development

I support Toronto FC 'cause I live in Toronto.
I also cheer for Everton because it's the team I picked on FIFA to play in manager mode and I also cheer for Real Madrid mainly because they had Roberto Carlos who's my favourite player. |

^^ Never knew that about you, the whole Carlos thing.
I support Futebol Clube do Porto (FC Porto), because I am Portuguese, I love the Superliga, I have always watched Porto ever since I was young aswell. I am in love with the club, I hate to criticize them, I only have love for them. I am a Portista for life. I also support the clubs from my islands of the Azores, Fayal Sport, and Futebol Clube do Madelena.

I should support my local team the Pittsburgh Riverhounds but because of the stupid American system I do not. Since we do not have promotion they will never get out of the USL 2 which is stupid. To me this in itself makes it pointless to follow the team. Maybe if they ever make a run in the Open Cup I might go to a game but that is it.
The team I actually follow is Reading FC. I support them because they are new in the premiership and have never been in the top division before last season in their over 100 years of existance. After seeing them dominate the Championship two years ago I looked in to them and became interested. Then I saw their kit was really nice looking and that they have an American in Bobby Convey and that sealed the deal. |

I cheer for the player, if carlos is doing great, then i'm happy for him .... but I won't be switching teams to follow a player. It's just that when I first started following european football, roberto carlos was with real madrid so real became my favourite team and it got better and better as more brazilians joined the club, but even if they all leave, and the club becomes let's say 100% italians & germans (not a big italy/germany fan |

I support Cork City FC
There are two main reasons. A) They are the team closest to me (They are the only team in Cork the city itself) B) My Dad, my uncle, my cousins all support them. I first went when I was about 6 months old (obviously I wouldn't know) it was away to UCD. The first time I went properly was when I was about 5. I went every Sunday with my Dad, his friend Tony, and my two brothers. They have since lost interest, but I have stayed loyal, and I miss about 1 home game a season (When I'm on my hols) but I still try to get text updates from my Cous Colm who goes to all the matches. I think I'll never part with my beloved City. Before I liked them but only recently have I started my affair with the club and I don't think I could ever leave. So many great memories in Turners Cross, and great friends. It may not be glamorous, but you can be damn sure it's addictive!

I support Bodø/Glimt FK because it's my local team.
Bodø/Glimt did the biggest prestige in Norwegian football two times, but the biggest is: 1991: 2'nd division (3'rd level) - Glimt promoted 1992: 1'st division (2'nd level) - Glimt promoted again 1993: Norwegian Premiership - Glimt got the runner up posision, and cup winner. With many Norwegian legends this year. Maybe Trond Sollied is the most famous. He was player and manager. Today we are back in the Premier Division after two years in Adeccoligaen (2'nd level), after a qualify. We are the first team on nine year that did it S****horpe United: (**** the S****horpe problem )I found them om PM'98 when i tried Pro mode. I took the worst team, and later I followed this team via internet and love it today ![]() (Sorry my bad english)
