Default The official Manchester City thread

Manchester City Football Club is an English professional football club based in the city of Manchester. They are currently members of the Premier League.
The first known competitive fixture was played in November 1880, when the side was known as St. Mark's (West Gorton), they then became Ardwick A.F.C. in 1887 before changing their name to Manchester City F.C. in 1894. The club has won the League Championship twice, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice and the European Cup Winners' Cup once. The club's most successful period was during the late 1960s and early 1970s, when they won several major trophies under the management team of Joe Mercer and his assistant Malcolm Allison with players such as Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee.
Since winning the League Cup in 1976, the club has failed to win any major honours, its decline led to relegation twice in three years in the 1990s, spending the 1998–99 season in the third tier of English football. The club has since regained top flight status, the level at which they have spent the majority of their history. It is now believed to be the wealthiest football club in the world, after purchase by the Abu Dhabi United Group in September 2008.[2]

There are rumours of Defoe, he could be a decent investment. He might be struggling at Tottenham but with the confidence of his manager (for a change) he could implement his potential.

Perhaps, I actually hope so.. But this isn't exactly the first time an outsider (i e none of the top 4) has started a season well. I think the reason people are taking this more "serious" is that basically Citeh have started fresh with a new owner, new manager and perhaps most importantly new - more - money. Perhaps they are up to something big though, but I wouldn't put the champagne on cold just yet if I was a Citeh supporter.

Not Veron, or Djemba-Djemba

But Man Citeh is a perfect club for a player like Elano, and I don't think he'd be as instrumental for eg us or Chelsea.

Elano would have been great but we dont need him now cause we have rooney and tevez who play in his role.

but elano's vision and passing is unbelieavable

My personal understanding is that Elano is more of an attacking midfielder, rather than a centre forward.

Nnnnot quite imo. Rooney has always been a forward to me (even though he's usually all over the pitch), but I regard Elano as a midfielder. Sven has played him higher up the pitch than I would've thought at times though

Bottom line, I think there's a slight difference between an attacking midfielder and a deep-lying forward.

Elano doesnt defend he just stands in midfield and makes awesome passes and creates space out of nowhere

why do you think you need two central midfielders to both defend?

lalalalah... avoid confusion is my nickname on several boards, it's just part of a song I like a lot, no deeper meaning.

Avoid relegation? Mate... I never doubted that City would not get relegated last season.

Elano is great and I hope he stays with City for a long time. To the person who said City will finish 11th and that several key players will pick up bad injuries. That is just disgraceful to wish for something like that. I know you did not explicitely state that you wish this will happen, but that's what I read between the lines. Then again you are a Man U fan, wouldn't expect anything else.

I hope Elano scores a Hattrick at Old Trafford but then again the referees will probably not allow this and just send him off and grant Man U some penalties as usual.
