It is possible that two Eastern conference teams could end up in the MLs Final this year.

I beleive that chicago will end up overtakking KC's spot and knock Dc out of the playoffs.

Blanco will turn RFK into a home crowd for the Fire.

I would not be the least surprised.

To be fair though, they are mostly Salvadorian not Mexican around those parts.

*Homik*coughcough.

Conferences are bull**** though. DC and NE are the best two teams in the league, they should meet in the final.

Unified table for 2008

I'd say Chivas is up there with us too.

I agree one conference would be the best. I's still like to see a playoff cup at the end though where the top 8 teams make it. It would be more realistic.

Well it is the top 8 teams now.

And it is a playoff.

And there is a cup.

But it's not the top 8 teams in the whole league. It's the top three in the west, top 4 in the east, and who ever whins out that 4th spot in the west.

PLAYOFFS DETAILS

Playoff berths will be determined by points in the standings upon the completion of the regular season on Oct. 21; all 13 teams will have played 30 games. If two teams are tied on points, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head results, the second tiebreaker is goal differential, and the third is goals scored for the season. (Subsequent tiebreakers are available in the Fact and Record Book).
The top two teams in each conference qualify and are seeded 1 & 2 in their respective four-team playoff conference brackets.
The four MLS teams with the next most points, regardless of conference, receive “wildcard” berths.

• The four wildcard teams will be seeded according to conference first.

• If more than four teams qualify from one conference, those finishing lower than fourth in their conference will shift over to the other conference bracket.

• A team switching conference brackets will be seeded below all other teams in its new conference playoff bracket.

But that still isn't the top 8 teams in the whole league. It may end up like that this year, but not others.

The only way that could halalalalala if the 7th place team in the East finished with more points than the 2nd team in the West.

The league is too even.. With conference heavy fixtures, I cant even imagine that would be feasible to accomplish.

The league should be one table. We should play everyone home and away. Top 8 teams makes the cup. The end.

Well yes. Well no.

The league would only be 26 matches then.

I guess 26 or 39. But they wouldnt go for 39.

Next year no.

By 2010 we could have another 3 to 4 teams in the league including San Jose.

I think 16 is the target amount for a while, until thy can sustain 18-20..but they probably wont expand for a few years past when they reach 16 teams.

No worries though if your town misses out, you can always hope for the Wizards to move there.

D.C should be handed the cup now. by far the best team this year. the league table doesn't lie.

if we won the cup this year though people would but outraged that a team in are position in the table would win. D.C deserve it, i hate them but no one else should get it.

DC will get what they deserve. If they can hold out for SS, then they will get it. If they slip up the last two games, then they definitely don't deserve it.

And MLS Cup is a totally different story. It's like saying Man U played so well in the EPL all year, they deserve to win the Champions league. It's a post league tournement.

Except the only problem is that in this league 4 matches are taken more seriously than 30

I personally have more respect for the SS than any other trophy.

well so do I....but it's DC United, 4 time MLS Cup champions that matters to the world.

And by the world I mean America.

And by America I mean 1% of it.

If that.
