IMO Ribery moving to Bayern was a huge mistake for him, he could have gone to an even bigger club as he's good enough

Bigger club? Bayern is a big club with quality players. The league isnt all that strong, but I like him at Bayern.

Yeah, Silva's class, and I can picture him in a Liverpool jersey for obvious reasons. I think he would be a great signing for you guys, but I heard from somewhere he's looking forward to extending his contract and is only thinking about next season.

It's not all that easy to convince someone to leave his home country to join a club in a different country. Im sure Valencia will bounce back if the management is'nt going to be how it was last season.

Well you cant get too bad after Ronald Koemanbut still not getting into europe will affect players decisions on whether to stay or not

That just comes down to loyalty. Kaka is a prime example of that, no Europe but he's aiming for imrpovement. (And he's not even Italian)

Well they're in the UEFA Cup so it's abit more of an obvious decision than for players like Silva and Villa at Valencia

I think we will get at least one of Silva, Ribery, or Villa. I think Alves would be good too and he and Ribery are both 25. Ribery would be an excellent pickup.

Silva or Ribery yes but IMO we dont need Villa or Alves, we have finnan degen and arbeloa and if we signed villa then it will between barry(if we get him) and masch in centre mid and both are good enough to play, we only need a backup striker to come on when torres is out

I have not seen much of Arbeloa but Finnan is old and Degen, from what I hear, is not supposed to be exactly a star, right away at least.

But Silva or Ribery would be excellent goal scoring wingers.

Question: This is my first time following an offseason. When are the players expected to sign, you know?

I read on a LFC forums site that we have confirmed "not officially" three transfers. Two were rumored to be youngsters and the other was to be Rafinha.

But yea, then I am excited to see who we can pick up. Do players usually sign on that day or wait till the day that it closes?

Real Madrid have made a genuine enquiry about Xabi Alonso & are trying to throw a spanner in the works of the deal currently being thrashed out with Juventus for the midfield ace.

If they secure their main transfer target (wonder who that is?) Ronaldo a swap deal may be on the cards for Xabi Alonso with Arjen Robben going the other way.

This possible deal like lots of deals in the summer is a bit like a property chain. I think once the Ronaldo saga is sorted out, the transfer merry go round that we all so love will begin. If the Portugese winker decides to go to Madrid, the knock on effect would be amazing and deals would be going on left, right & centre.

If this deal did come off for Liverpool, Benitez would quickly tie up the Barry deal & any funds left over from sales, ie (Crouch,Riise,Carson,Vorinin?)

The focus could turn to a striker worthy of supporting Torres & a new full back.

I would love to see Villa with Torres, but how about we get Huntelaar? He's only about 24-26 and the clubs that were interested in him haven't signed him yet. I don't think he will be as expensive as Villa, but if Rafa does have the money then it's Villa all the way.

I wouldnt mind a swap deal Alonso for Robben with abit of dosh i dont like him as a person but he really is a decent player, according to BBC website we are holding out for 18m for Juventus

Also i dont think we need Villa, if we are playing with one up top again then we only need a backup striker

You guys don't need another striker, Rafa likes the one striker up front so he'll probably buy midfielders/defenders.

We also wont get Rafinha now as we have already got Degen, if we dont manage to get Dossena for some reason i'd like to see us get Wayne Bridge for that position
