Bayern’s French international Franck Ribery has emerged as a surprise target for Rafael Benitez as he looks to cure his winger problems.
Reports from Germany claim that Benitez will make a £20million offer after the forthcoming EURO2008 championships in a bid to prise away one of Europe’s most talented players from the Allianz Arena.
Benitez is keen to add the ‘missing piece of the jigsaw’ to make up a midfield trio of Gerrard and Babel to play beneath Fernando Torres in an adventurous 4-2-3-1 formation which would see Mascherano pair up with either Alonso, Lucas or whomever Rafa buys for this slot, sitting in front of the back four.
A purchase of this stature would surely signal serious intent from our club in providing the necessary funds to allow Benitez to re-claim the coveted ‘Best Midfield in the World’ status.

i dont know about u but i would like us 2 buy him

I must admit, I don't know alot about Ribery. I just remmeber watching him when he first started emerging for France and I was amazed at his talents.

If he's kept up that form, then I'm ALL for the signing of Ribery if it gets done.

Liverpool will give Swedish teenager Markus Johansson a chance to impress during a trial at Anfield.

The 14-year-old will travel to England in August after catching the eye of the Reds' scouts during a summer tryout in Karlstad last year.

The striker has broken into the first-team fold at Hagahojden this season, and bagged three goals in his early appearances for the club.

The youngster admits that the opportunity has come quicker than he expected, but will be doing all he can to ensure that his dreams of playing in the Premier League come true.

Nervous

"I am already starting to get nervous," Johansson told Folkbladet.

"I got to know about the trial last week. It will be great fun. There are no doubts that it will be the biggest opportunity of my life.

"We have kept in touch with their Swedish scout. I will go to Liverpool in August and train with their Academy for a few days.

"My biggest asset is my strength and it is my dream to play for Liverpool."

so we're ready to shell out 20 mill for Ribery but dont have enough to go for Alves, Silva, or Joaquin, all of whom are younger, correct?

Is Ribery considered better than those guys? I am sure we could get one of the Valencia guys for less than 20 mill.

Liverpool’s second choice goalkeeper Charles Itandje is set to leave after only a season at the club. It’s believed that the FA Cup Winners, Portsmouth, is looking at the possibility of signing him as a back-up for David James.
Rennes are also interested in the 25-year-old goalkeeper. However, it’s likely that he’ll return to his former club, Lens, who have just been relegated.
Itandje never featured in any league games last season, and only played in cup games.

dont know bout u but i want him out

I was thinking the same thing in my post before yours. Didn't feel the need at the time. But now it's been mentioned. He's not the best looking thing in the world is he :l

I think Itandje was a pretty good keeper, he made some great saves against Chelsea in Carling Cup Semi Final and i don't think Rafa gave him a chance

It's not his performances for the National team that will annoy Rafa.
It will be onc ehe signs on to his new team, he likely won't get injured. Which seems to be way things work in sport.

Would be fantastic if we sign Ribery but cant see it happening, everytime kewell came on as a sub too he was the only one of our left wingers who went on the attack as soon as he got the ball, now we have babel so kewell can go

I doubt Ribery will sign, I dont think Bayern would let him go. And he's too ugly. And I think Itandje should leave. He's a great keeper, but he's backup to an even better keeper.
