![]() KELLY: I'VE GROWN AS A PLAYER Jimmy Rice 01 August 2009 England U19 international Martin Kelly believes he will end pre-season a much better player after learning from the likes of Jamie Carragher. The centre-back claims he has gained a lot from playing and training alongside his senior colleagues in Switzerland and Asia - with Carra in particular giving him a helping hand. Kelly told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Carra always helps you out in training and games, telling you where to be in relation to the forwards. I'm grateful for that because a young lad can benefit from that experience. "You can't get any better than learning alongside players like Carra, Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel. That's going to bring the best out of me and hopefully I'll get more of it. "We'll have to wait and see what happens once the season starts but at the moment I'm just concentrating on working hard. That's what Rafa has told me - just keep working hard." Kelly spent the last three months of 2008-09 at Huddersfield Town, where he earned the praise of assistant manager and Kop icon Terry McDermott. The 19-year-old claims he returned to Anfield with more maturity. "I learnt quite a bit," he said. "It was a different experience to what I'm getting now but it was a good one. It has helped me mature a bit and helped me when I joined up with the first team for pre-season. "It's good being around the first team. Training has been good but hard. The experience I'm getting here is great, I'm really enjoying it and couldn't wish to be anywhere else. "The pace is a lot quicker and you have to find your feet quickly, but that's what you need in pre-season." KELLY: I'VE GROWN AS A PLAYER INSUA: MY LEFT-BACK GOAL Jimmy Rice 01 August 2009 Emiliano Insua is determined to make the left-back slot his own in 2009-10. The 20-year-old burst on to the scene last term by making 13 senior appearances, impressing over the festive period before joining up with Argentina U20s for the South American Championships. Now he has his sights on a permanent role in Rafa Benitez's back four. "It's not easy to play in a team which is always fighting to win titles but I'm hoping this season I can play more games," said Insua. "I'm feeling really good and I believe I can do it. Last season was really good for me. I played 13 games and learned so much. "There is a great team spirit here and it is great to know you have the support of your teammates behind you. "Rafa is a very good manager and every day he is looking at my game and trying to help me improve. "The manager has been great for me. He brought me here and I owe him a lot." INSUA: MY LEFT-BACK GOAL VALLES CHARGE HAMPERED BY RAIN Jimmy Rice 01 August 2009 Liverpool driver Adrian Valles will start the British round of this year's Superleague Formula from 10th position after qualifying was abandoned due to a flooded track. The torrential rain means each team will begin Sunday's first race in the position they finished during practice at Donington. Valles currently leads the championship by 24 points ahead of the Al-Ain driver in second and Tottenham Hotspurs in third. Stay logged on to .tv on Sunday for all the latest. Thank god that mongfest is over.
As for Alonso being less focused...I don't see that happening at all. If he cares at all about his spanish world cup place he's got no choice when he's competing with the likes of Fabregas and Senna to start for them. |

Hammill edges closer to Tykes deal
Barnsley are on the verge of signing Liverpool winger Adam Hammill on a permanent deal, Tykes boss Simon Davey has confirmed. Hammill enjoyed a successful loan spell at Oakwell last season and is ready to return to the Championship club, but the unlikely factor of a trip to the dentist has delayed proceedings. Davey said: "With Adam Hammill we are very close but not signed, sealed and delivered. Unfortunately we have been delayed a little bit because he needs to have his wisdom teeth removed and is having an operation on Monday." lalalalaing joke, the fee is £500,000.. Ridiculous.. Unless it contains a buy back clause we've just given another youung player from our academy on the cheap..

![]() I hope to god this deal doesn't go through, he's wasted there and only a short time away from first team. He's too good for the championship. |
