Cambiasso has been one of the world's premier defensive midfielders for a while now.
But yeah. Not an attacking midfielder at all. Was originally bought by Inter to cover the midfield together with Vieira I believe.

I would say Mascherano is slowly overtaking him. As for Xabi, you should never replace him, there's no-one better that you could get.

He's a DM like Mascherano but he's better on the ball and has a better passing range than Mascherano and can score goals aswell.

He had 2 great games against Utd in the CL this year, was by far there best player and was really impressed by him, then I started to watch him a bit more for Inter and grew to like him as a footballer.

He's just 1 of them players that would help and be good in anyteam if you get me, very experienced and professianl player.

YouTube - SHOW - Cambiasso

A GOL A GOL A GOL A GOL.

Cambiasso's a great player, I'd be so jealous if you bought him.

If Cambiasso is brought in at Alonso or Masch's expense....no thanks.

Of course.

He's worth considering though if really are forced to sell either of the two.

SPEARING AND DARBY AGREE DEALS
Jimmy Rice 06 July 2009 Jay Spearing and Stephen Darby are set to commit their futures to Liverpool after agreeing new deals. The local duo follow in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger, who have all accepted new contracts in recent months.

Spearing, 20, graduated to Melwood in the summer of 2007 after the best part of a decade at the Academy.

The central midfielder captained Liverpool U18s to the second of their successive FA Youth Cup victories two years ago.

His debut arrived as a substitute in a Champions League clash with PSV on December 9, 2008.

What the Wirral-born youngster lacks in height, he makes up in hunger and energy. These attributes prompted the Kop to sing his name for the first time during an electric cameo as the mighty Real Madrid were dispatched 4-0 in March 2009.

Right-back Darby also rose through the Academy ranks before arriving at Melwood in 2006.

The 20-year-old was a key part of the 2006 and 2007 FA Youth Cup victories, wearing the captain's armband in the first of those wins. He then went on to skipper the second string to a treble in 2008.

Darby made his senior bow as a substitute in a Carling Cup defeat to Tottenham on November 12, 2008 - one of two first-team appearances.

Yossi Benayoun agrees new Liverpool FC deal

Yossi Benayoun

Liverpool are yet to receive any offers for Alonso or Mascherano but with Real Madrid and Barcelona both having publicly confirmed their interest, it is likely to be only a matter of time before bids are made.
Real remain in the hunt for Alonso as club president Florentino Perez continues his attempts to snap up some of Europe’s finest footballing talent. While Barcelona have made no secret of the fact that they would like to add Mascherano to their ever roster of stars.
Meanwhile, boss Benitez was dividing his time today between Liverpool’s academy in Kirkby and the first team training base at Melwood as the preparations for the coming season get underway.
The majority of the first team squad returned to Melwood yesterday for a series of drills and tests ahead of pre-season trips to Switzerland, the Far East, Spain and Norway.
Glen Johnson will join up with his new team mates for the first time on Wednesday.
He will take part in his first Melwood training session having been allowed an extra few days off, along with skipper Steven Gerrard following their efforts on international duty with England at the end of last season.
The Reds Spanish contingent do not return until July 19 following their involvement in the recently concluded Confederations Cup.
Benitez was at the Academy to welcome the club’s latest batch of youngsters and also to meet with Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish on his first official day since rejoining the Reds.

Doesn't mean he can't join someone else.. It's unlikely, but could happen is Mascherano does leave..

I know that, but the whole point of the article was that we were interested in Cambiasso because he'd be cheap due to having only 1 year left.
