Do any of you lot think there is anything positive to come out of potentially selling Alonso?

I think it would be a massive mistake, would love to see it happen.

No. I'd rather keep him than get £30m tbh.

Liverpool are said to be targeting Udinese duo Gokhan Inler and Gaetano D’Agostino, but are concerned at the price-tags.

While the Daily Mail reports that Rafa Benitez is very interested in Swiss midfielder Inler, Italian newspapers suggest teammate D’Agostino is also on his shopping list.

The problem in both cases is the price-tag that Udinese have slapped on to the two players.

The Friulani are said to be asking for around £18m to part with 25-year-old Inler, whereas Liverpool are only prepared to pay £10m.

Similarly, Italian international D’Agostino has been valued at around £14.5m, but talks with Juventus have collapsed because of the fee.

It would not be the first time that Inler has been heavily linked with a Premier League switch, as he was targeted by Arsenal last season.

For the sake of Premier League, I hope Xabi stays. He's a joy to watch, and he's crucial to you IMO.

According to local newspaper Judske Vestkysten Esbjerg fB U16 talent Nikolaj Køhlert is on the verge of signing a 3-year contract with Liverpool after impressing on a trial. It is believed that the clubs have come to an agreement over the fee and the player will be having talks with Liverpool over personal terms when he returns from a vacation in a weeks time.

He's a decent player and hope he stays but he's not ' Crucial ' to us, apart from this season he's was missing for 2 years and didnt play well at all.

The likes of Gerrard, Torres, Carragher and Mascherno are the the 1's that are crucial to Liverpool Imo.

I agree with what you're saying. They've showed they've got the cash to spend stupidly, let's bleed them dry.

If they can spend 30m on a striker who hasn't really proved anything to the world(although he may have massive potential), why should we accept the same/less for a player who has had an amazing season and showed he can be one of the best midfielders in the world?

100% agree.

Xabi's Proven and Xabi's Spanish, them 2 reasons should make the deal massive Imo.

Well said, Ryan. Completely agree

Main reason I didn't want Benzema in the first place. Xabi is worth that kind of money because he's proven.

I can't see you getting more than 35 if Xabi does go, I mean they paid around 60 for Kaka, and I'd expect him to move for around twice what Xabi does... If you lose him I think any slim chance you had of winning the league goes with him mind.

This is the reported conversation from the initial Xabi negotiations.

Quote:
Madrid sent some representatives to negotiate over Alonso and Arbeloa at the end of last week. They offered a straight deal including some of the Dutch contingent (Van der Vaart and Sneijder), then they offered Gago, and then they offered Negredo. Each time, Rafa asked what values Madrid were placing on these players and finally burst into incredulous laughter. "Remind me - who beat whom by five goals to nil in the Champions League? he tells the now flustered Madrid negotiators. "Only it must be us who lost, because my players, whom you are wanting to take away, are worth nothing, whereas yours, whom you are trying to discard, each seem to have higher values". And the negotiations ended there and then!
There's no newspaper links but this was posted on a few Liverpool forums. It's stuff like this that makes me so happy to have Rafa in charge. We no longer have players running down their contracts and us ending up being lalalalaed over.

Rafa has dealt with Agger where as in the past he may have gone on the cheap or gone on a free. One of our star players looks to be leaving and we on to receiving a record transfer.

P.S That supposedly happened in June some time.

I would like to think that Rafa must have a half decent replacement in line if he plans on Xabi leaving. I have no idea about Inler and that other lad unless I start my FM career back up(I've bought Inler a couple times but never seen him in a match.)

I'm pretty confident Masch will stay and it seems the speculation has come from his lalalalaty contract, which hopefully will be sorted. Masch alongside any half decent passer shoudn't hurt us too much if Rafa has a good attacker in place.

Man U won the league with a midfield which included Anderson and an aging Scholes.

Just a quick check Ryan, is your sig where it says "confisents" a reference I don't get or an... "interesting" typo?

Some idiot came on saying "If you think Capello can lead England to the world cup put [My sig] in your signature."
