if he is a success there, i will eat my metaphorical hat.

also, anyone see what ferguson said about him? he said hes a 'world-class player'. a world class player who played average at NEWCASTLE? i heard that mark vidukas quite a player aswell

Would rather we kept Alonso tbh but if he had to go then I suppose 35m and Negredo wouldn't be a bad deal.

35 mil and negredo would be a great deal IMO, we could spend most of the 35 million on another CM, or we could revert to a 4-4-2 and spend it on a winger, playing negredo and torres up front.

if we want to replace alonso, gokhan inler from udinese looks good, or we could splash out quite a bit anr try and get hernanes from sau paulo, hes a CM who runs with the ball brilliantly, and he can also defend. hes not your average CM, thats for sure, and would offer us something different.

Does anyone else see the inevitable Owen goal against us this season happening?

And on the discussion of Alonso; I think we could lose either Alonso or Mascherano, but definitely not both. If i had to choose I'd rather keep Mascherano.

If Alonso was to go then i think we should try and make a bid for De Rossi.

Don't want us to revert back to 4-4-2 because Stevie and Nando are lethal upfront together.

Would prefer to keep him, but £35m and Negredo is a brilliant deal for us.. Personally, with Real Madrid making bids of stupid amounts, I reckon we should bump the price as high as we can, if Negredo isn't included.. Then make a bid for De Rossi, or a sneaky bid for Cesc Fabregas, but it's fairly likely it won't happen..

I doubt De Rossi will leave Roma.

I'd be happy with just Silva to be honest, but I view keeping Alonso and Mascherano most important. I'm very confident Masch will stay, not so confident about Alonso...

Not so sure about Sanchez.. Apparently Udinese want £20m for him, like they want £18m for Inler, which has put us off.. Silva I'd be happy with, but I think £20m for Alexis Sanchez is a little high at for him, as he's still a young player..

yes hes young but Id say hes incredibly talented. Id have him over silva because hes more direct. If we can get both from player sales then our attack would be something else.

I don't think Negredo will be included, AS is reporting that he will be presented at the Bernabeu this week and common sense would say that means he's staying in white, I see him going for at least £30m, with incentives that would boost the transfer based on trophies (like Benz' fee).

Technically with that money you could grab de Rossi, but I don't see that happening, and since you don't want to go with the 4-4-2, who would you replace Xabi with?

although not aimed at me I would say we could replace him with veloso or martinez.

I have no idea about the deal to be honest, I don't think anyone does.. No offers have even been made yet I don't think.. £35m is the minimum for me, unless playes are included.. I wouldn't mind seeing Sneijder, although, I don't think he would fill the gap left by Xabi if he leaves..

De Rossi, probably very unlikely, maybe a sneaky bid for Fabregas, although that's unlikely too.. I can't think of many names to replace him with, or players who play his role as well as Xabi..

Just hope he sees his future here, and that he decides not to waste all the progress he's made here over the last 5 years..

It's reported that a deal won't be offered until the 18th(I think) because thats when the sell-on clause with Sociedad runs out.
