Javi Martinez has issued a "come-and-get-me" plea to Liverpool because he is eager to be part of their illustrious history.

The Athletic Bilbao midfielder has been touted as a possible replacement should Xabi Alonso leave Anfield.

Martinez said: "Liverpool are a great team with a great history and any player would like to go there.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wants to add some flair to the midfield as he tries to loosen Manchester United's grip on the Premier League.

But Martinez said: "I am absolutely calm, the rumours do not disturb me.

"If I receive an offer, I will deal with it with the club."

Not bad
Apparently we've had touts watching him for a few years now. He's one for the future and is an attacking version of Lucas, only Martinez has alot more skill and ability on the ball.

The only problem is that he has a get out clause on his contract of 20m and that doesn't run out for another 2 years. I know Bilbao are interested in keeping hold of San Jose so maybe that will sway the move in our favour abit.

Whatever happens, Alonso will be a loss, If he leaves.
We shouldn't sign Owen?.. Why?..

He has the best shots to goals ratio in the Premiership, which shows when he gets chances, he scores.. He is also avaliable on a free transfer, which means he costs nothing, which avoids another Keane..

RAFA RUBBISHES ALONSO DEAL CLAIMS
Paul Hassall 31 May 2009 Rafa Benitez has rubbished reports in the Spanish media that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid for the transfer of Xabi Alonso. The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer but the Reds boss has poured cold water on suggestions the Spain international is set to leave.

The Liverpool manager said: "The situation is clear, we do not want to sell our best players and that includes Xabi.

"He had a very good season for us and can be an important player in the future. There is no agreement with Real and we want him to be part of our plans going forward.

"Xabi himself told our club magazine only two weeks ago that he was looking forward to his sixth season as a Liverpool player. Why should he want to leave now?"

Benitez added: "Xabi's agent came to see me recently to talk about the future. It was a surprise for me and I pointed out to him there were three years left on Xabi's contract.

"I asked him if the player was happy in Liverpool and he said yes. It was a short meeting."
This makes me a little more confident.

If he leaves (hopefully he doesn't) just use an iron to get the name and number off, it worked for me with Keane Just make sure to get a name over the top of it because it leaves a outline of the name and number.

Hmmm Owen? see when watching him, was he S*it? or was it just the team he was playing in, because imo if he came here, with the service he'd get from top quality players i think it could work for us and for him so i'd go for it, its not a risk is it, were not paying anything for the lad so imo why not? you then save money and can improve other area's.

Hopefully it won't resort to that.. I want to keep Alonso on the back of my shirt, and see him wearing the new kit next season..

Exactly, if we can get him, it'll cover the back-up to Torres, which lets us spend more on the RB or wingers..

Yeah I agree but in all serious there's not a chance Owen coming back anyways so I think the conversations reached it climax, it's just rumours.

So lets end it here.

Lavezzi invites Liverpool bid
Saturday 30 May, 2009
“Napoli want to sell Ezequiel Lavezzi,” claims the Argentine's agent, so Liverpool are invited to renew their offer.

The club turned down a bid a few weeks ago, but the player is now furious with them for failing to improve his wages.

“Whether he stays or not depends entirely on Napoli, but I think the club wants to sell him,” said agent Alejandro Mazzoni on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Napoli did not keep their promises. I have been waiting for a call from Pierpaolo Marino since Sunday so we can have a meeting with the President, so it is difficult for us to know what the club wants.

“I want to tell the fans that I have always been ready to come when the director calls and last time we spoke I told him of an important offer from a foreign club.

“The President has not replied, not even when Pocho himself called. I am not an authorised FIFA agent and I cannot talk about this, but what I can say is there was a genuine offer and Marino turned it down.”

The agent made it clear that if Lavezzi was to quit Napoli, it was not because of Liverpool's bid, but rather the Partenopei's behaviour.

“What counts is the rapport with Napoli and at the moment there simply isn't one. Marino promised Lavezzi a pay rise, but nothing happened.

“Now there is an important offer on the table for both the player and the club, now I get the feeling Napoli want to sell him.

“I wish to point out that Napoli are very important for Lavezzi, but we are talking about an English club that plays in the Champions League who are offering to treble his wages.

“Football players are not slaves, they are people, and you can buy his contract but not his will.”

Owen would need a hell of lot training to get back to the level we are playing at. His injuries are not the problem i just think his standard has dropped at Newcastle, one of the reasons england have dropped him also.

Not only that would Rafa want him back after he shunned him twice for more money? i personally think we need to be looking else where for a back up striker and maybe look to buy Owen when he has got back on track because at the moment he isn't fit to lace N'Gogs boots.
