Javi Martinez makes "come-and-get-me" plea to Liverpool

Javi Martinez has issued a "come-and-get-me" plea to Liverpool because he is eager to be part of their illustrious history.

The Athletic Bilbao midfielder has been touted as a possible replacement should Xabi Alonso leave Anfield.

Martinez said: "Liverpool are a great team with a great history and any player would like to go there.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wants to add some flair to the midfield as he tries to loosen Manchester United's grip on the Premier League.

But Martinez said: "I am absolutely calm, the rumours do not disturb me.

"If I receive an offer, I will deal with it with the club."

Not bad

Really impressed by this Martinez lads attitude. I'd love to have him at the club as long as he's a good player, but i'm sure Rafa knows what he's doing

Sad to see Alonso on the brink of leaving

It's just worrying because he hasn't denied anything yet..

And I refuse to listen to Rafa because he denied Keane leaving back in January and look at what happened.

I realy don't understand why anybody would want Alonso to leave and why he would be sold :S it just doesn't make any sense to get rid of a player who's still young, and got experience in the Premiership

Replacing players who helped us to second place with players who have never played in England before. Absolutely great idea : /

Well noone wants Alonso to leave. Apart from gerrard he was probably our best player this season gone.

But lok at it from Rafa'#s point of view. If he has been sold to sell players before buying Alonso is the most realistic in terms of getting close to the 20m mark. Rather than offload 5-6 players for a couple of million each, Alonso will go for big money if the right offer comes in.

Dont want him to leave but it's looking highly possible that he will.

He also scored the equaliser in Istanbul , However, A month ago Alonso handed in a transfer request saying "He loves Liverpool, he just isn't enjoying his football"
To be honest I bet one of the reason that he left was becuase he was unappreciated by everyone, He was Player of the season for us last season and no one gave a fuss, but if it was Gerrard or Torres everyone would make a big deal.

What is the logic in selling him though, apart from a high price tag? If we sell him we lose all link and flair between the midfield and up front. I think if Alonso is sold, Rafa will have a HUGE backlash from fans.

Alonso will not be leaving.

Alonso is the biggest unsung hero of Liverpool. Most people say Kuyt is, but at least they recognise his efforts on the field. If i were Alonso i too would be a little bit distressed knowing that i'm not being recognised as much as others. I really hope he doesn't leave because if he does, he will truly know how much we appreciate him and he may regret it.

It's starting to annoy me, but his agent has said that he wants to stay, but it seems that the constant speculation remains, I don't believe he wants to go, and I don't think anyone at the club wants him too..

There is a difference with the Keane transer because any transer was denied, and he said 'he won't be leaving', however, Rafa has said 'I don't want Xabi to go'.. He wanted Keane to go, and didn't want the speculation around the move scuppering a potential deal, this is different..

Liverpool's players have told manager Rafael Benitez that he should bring Newcastle striker Michael Owen back to Anfield.

I would love him back here. Was my favourite Liverpool player when he was here and we let him go to Madrid on the cheap. Of course he would be a squad player and not a starter every game but would be a good alternative if Torres is injured imo.

Everton manager David Moyes has made Michael Owen his top transfer target, according to reports.
The Newcastle striker is set to leave St James' Park for free this summer as his contract with the relegated club is up.

He supported Everton as a boy and will be doing all he can to stay in the Premier League.
However, it is thought the Toffees want to halve his £110,000-a-week wages and install a pay-as-you-play clause in the deal.
Wigan and Aston Villa are also thought to be interested in the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player.
Everton Linked With Owen Deal :
I found this from yesterday.

Owen was my favourite player when I was younger and I would love to see him back playing for us but only if he would settle for being backup to Torres most of the time which I can't see him doing.

Hmm, I think if Liverpool want to turn into one of the big two (I know they finished there this season but Chelsea are still the second best team in the league for me at the moment, but if Liverpool sign good players and not people like Michael Owen then they might get somewhere, he would be worse than Robbie Keane, you might aswell sign Robbie Fowler up again.

Whatever happens, Alonso will be a loss, If he leaves.
