Benitez has creative winger watched

Reports in France are suggesting that Rafa Benitez has had FC Lorient's winger Kevin Gameiro watched on a number of occasions, with reports suggesting the Anfield outfit are considering making a move for the forward.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form for the French minnows helping the club secure a respected mid-table finish in Ligue 1. Gamiero has chipped in with seven goals and 8 assists this season, attracting interest form France's domestic giants Paris Saint Germain and Marseille.

The former French youth international is rumoured to be considering his future after only one year at FC Lorient, with ambitions of forcing his way into the thoughts of French boss Raymond Domenech.

Haven't heard of him, but it sounds like he does have talent, and that he's a big fish in a small pond at Lorient.. Shouldn't be too expensive, so I suppose it could be a good deal..

*I know some of you hate youtube clips of players, but it gives us at least an idea of these 'unknown' players..

If Rafa could pull of a deal for Aguero it would ****ing great. The lad would fit in well here and would be a great attention to our squad. Not only that i think he would be a cheaper option to Tevez.

Id love to see him here, but where would he play ?

4-4-2 would mean Gerrard wouldnt be as attacking and we would lose Xabi or Masch (to the bench)

Or 4-2-3-1 (with him behind the striker) Would mean Gerrard would be pushed back and we'd have the same problem with Xabi/Masch

Or would you want him to play as a winger ?

I don't think he can play on the wings, so it would mean moving Gerrard.

Kun can play on the wing if the formations like Barca's (3 at the front) but not in a 4-4-2, Not sure about a 4-2-3-1 Its gonna cost 25m to find out though

Daniel Agger could be forgiven if he felt glad to see the back of Sami Hyypia - but the Danish international is far from pleased. Agger may have had to settle for a place on the bench on occasions due to the evergreen form of our Finnish centre-half, but Liverpool's No.5 is gutted to be losing a man who has helped his career so much.

"I'll be very sad to see Sami Hyypia leave Liverpool. For me he will be a big loss personally, and also a tremendous loss for the football club," Agger told LFC Magazine.

"Of all the players and people at Liverpool who helped me settle into a new team in a new country and a new league championship, he was by far the most important presence. He helped me the most.

"I owe him a lot. He's really great to talk to. As a young defender you have questions and he's so calm and so happy to help wherever he can. He is a natural leader, in a different way maybe to some of the other leaders in our team. But he has been just as important over the course of my time here at the club."

Hyypia could play his last game for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield today and Agger believes the Reds' loss will be Bayer Leverkusen's gain.

Agger said: "He's been great for this club for 10 years. Now he will go on to be a great player for Bayer Leverkusen. They are signing one of the best defenders still in England in my opinion.

"People like to talk about maybe he doesn't have as much pace as he once did but when you have the intelligence that Sami has you do not need to be quick because there are always ways of compensating for that."

Agger is confident his mentor can continue playing at the high standards he has set himself and impress the German Bundesliga with his ability.

He added: "I wish him success in Germany, but I don't think he needs it. Player like Sami are successful wherever they go."
Has Agger signed his contract? I remember all the stories saying he had agreed a contract but none saying he had signed it.

Does anyone else think we should be signing English players as well.

If this rule comes into play then we are ****ed

Barry and Johnson would be ideal.

Barry will be close to retirement by the time that comes into effect.

The rule isn't coming in for a few years yet, I think. Barry will be near the end of his career if/when the rule comes in.

We've got a few players in the youth ranks capable of making the step up to the first team should this come into effect.

Hopefully by then players like Spearing, Darby, Amoo, and Ince can make the step up. Of course Rafa will be looking out for bright English prospects aswell.

I just hope they can make the jump from reserves to first team. I hope Rafa goes all guns blazing in this transfer window.

5+ players please!

Silva
Tevez/Aguero/Forlan/Negredo
Johnson/Snra
and possibly a CB to replace Sami, Albiol is there only one that has been linked so far.

I heard we are after Daniel Pranjic too. He looks amazing.

Lavezzi too.
