Spearing got injured on about the 83rd minute and still hasn't got back up from the sideline.

EDIT: He had to be carried off at the end of the match.

Reading about the thoughts of Jay being in the first team. I'd much rather see him sat next to Mascherano than Alonso, so if he did have a wobbly moment, he'd have someone to recover for him. So, yeah I want to see him get a shot, but for be it'll me Alonso to the bench.

Liverpool win 2-1. That should take us off the bottom of the table.

Don't get your hopes up is all I'm saying.. If the title is possible, then most will have gone instantly..

Hopefully Jay is alright, he's not looking too good..

It's possible but I wouldn't bet on it anymore. I won't be expecting any favours from Tottenham. Man City is a game that could go either way. Arsenal is the second from last game for Man U I think, so they may be out of their slow patch.

yeah before the arsenal game I was much more optimistic, but after the game i felt that we just screwed ourselves over. It's still possible, but we cant afford to make stupid mistakes like we did in the arsenal game. The defence has been looking shaky of late. That is what has got me worried, the attack has been really good of late.

Well we can finish on 86 and Utd 92 so effectively we need them to draw 3 or lose 2

Liverpool's forgotten man Ryan Babel insists youth will no longer be an excuse if he once again flops at Anfield next season.
The winger, who can also play as a central striker, has made just six league starts in his second campaign on Merseyside, following an £11.5million move from Ajax in summer 2007.
Babel was hailed as potentially the next Thierry Henry upon his arrival in the Premier League, but the promise shown in glimpses during his debut season has not developed into anything more substantial.
Reds manager Rafael Benitez signed Albert Riera last summer to fill the left-wing berth that Babel had failed to make his own, and the Dutchman admits he is fast running out of time to prove his worth.
"In December I'll be 23. When you reach that age, then in my eyes you aren't a potential talent any more," Babel said.
"Next season age isn't an excuse any more, and that's an excuse trainers use too often, saying 'You're young and you have the time'.
"My goal this season was to progress to a higher level and be in the starting line-up. But they brought in another left forward in the summer and he's been playing regularly.
"But I have patience and I know that I have to work hard and I have to show the manager that I am ready and have earned the right to be picked."

Good words to hear, that he's still willing to fight. I don't think he'll get the chance to though.

I just being realistic. I'm no going to get my hopes too high to feel crushed if we don't win it. We're essentially 6 points behind.

Quality player and would probably like to be rejoined with Masch. I don't never we could afford/would pay his price tag.

It sucks that he's owned by thalalala party... If he wasn't we could get him on a free

Maybe we could dig deep for some funds.

If he wasn't owned by a third party, Man U would have gave him a new contract last year.

Maybe we could but I think a winger is our first priority.

I stil think we dont need a striker to start, just a backup to Torres, however if we signed Tevez i'd be really happy. He's much better than Berbatov but doesnt even get in the team ahead of him. If we sign him though it will mean 4-42 and no Alonso in the centre i reckon.

If we were to sell Alonso for some reason i'm sure everyone would be more open to this. Dont want to see him go though, of course.

I think a problem we will come across is trying to find a striker who is good enough to come in and do a job when Torres is out, yet is willing to sit on the bench.

maybe someone old Ryan? They seem to never mind

Owen would of course expect to play, as would Villa... and most good strikers.

I don't think older strikers cope well in the premier league, they don't usually have the required stamina and pace.

Ideally we find a younger striker who has the quality now. Maybe Kierrison would fit the bill as he would be new to Europe. But eventually he will demand a starting place if he progresses.

well we could always try a 4-4-2 somewhere down the line, and also some old players do well enough [Heskey]
