Just rumours mate, Just rumours.

I don't think Henry would of been a good choice for us though, Even at Barca hes no where near what he was at Arsenal.

We don't need a world class striker, just a decent backup striker. The formation we play now is our best and if we revert back to 4-4-2 it could easily bodge up. Would rather spend 20m on Silva than 30m on Villa.

Jay Spearing dreams of emulating Liverpool FC idol Steven Gerrard
MAR 27 2009 LIVERPOOL ECHO

JAY SPEARING has revealed how he would love to follow in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard by becoming the latest local lad to make his name at Anfield.

The Birkenhead-born midfielder made his home debut in Liverpool’s 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid earlier this month on a night which Spearing says he will never forget.

His immediate focus at present though is on building on his impressive cameo against the Spanish giants and maybe even becoming a regular in Rafa Benitez’s side alongside his big hero Gerrard.

“That’s exactly what I want to be doing at Liverpool Football Club,” said Spearing.

“Anything I can do that comes even close to what Stevie has achieved would be incredible.

“To get two Champions League appearances already is great for me. Three years ago that was the kind of thing I was dreaming of.

“I’d always be thinking that I want to play in the Champions League and the Premier League. I want to do this, I want to do that.

“But to actually have that reality rubber stamped now and to say I’ve done it is fantastic.

“Knowing that I’ve played in what is probably the biggest club tournament in the world will give me bags of confidence going forward.

“But I’ve got to take things as they come now, day by day and keep working hard.”

Spearing actually replaced Gerrard against Real and his 20 minute cameo certainly impressed the Liverpool fans who chanted his name on more than one occasion.

The 20-year-old admits that the support he received from the crowd was one of the main factors behind the quality of his brief but unforgettable appearance.

“I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, definitely,” he said.
“I’m not going to forget my Anfield debut against Real Madrid in a hurry am I?

“One of my mates asked me afterwards how I felt and to be perfectly honest I felt more nervous on my debut against PSV.

“That was the first time I’d travelled and actually got on the pitch.

“At Anfield, I had a few of our fans shouting to me when I was warming up, saying ‘come on’ and all that.

“That helped settle me down and gave me confidence, knowing I had the fans behind me.

“When we got to half time and it was 2-0 I was thinking ‘Oh come on, I just want to have a go. Just get me on and give me a go’.

“The atmosphere was incredible and when Stevie G scored the third I couldn’t believe just how loud the crowd could be from down on the touchline.

“When you’re in the stand it is loud enough but when you’re down at the side of the pitch it’s deafening.

“It sent shivers down my body, never mind Stevie’s.

“After that I was like ‘Oh please, just give me a go. Any time will do.

“But then when I eventually got on it was more a case of excitement than thinking about anything else.

“I just wanted to get out there and show what I could do to help the team.
“But i head to keep my head together.

“ There’s no point me going round trying to snap or kick people.

“I thought ‘just play your own game, get the ball down, start passing it and enjoy yourself’.

“I thought I did okay.”

He didn't say anything about being like Stevie Just basically said it'd be nice to score a goal like that.

Anyways I can see big things for him, he's very cool headed.

Barca near Keirrison deal

Spanish giants close in on Brazilian striker

Keirrison: Barcelona target

Barcelona have reached an initial agreement with Palmeiras for striker Keirrison.
The Spanish giants are set to make a concrete bid for the 20-year-old Brazilian in the coming weeks after agreeing initial terms.
Barcelona director of football Txiki Begiristain met with the player's agency Traffic Sports in South America to discuss clauses and conditions related to the highly-rated striker's progress.
Keirrison, who has enjoyed a successful season with the Brazilian side, looks set for a summer move to Camp Nou with contract talks nearing a conclusion.
Dream

Delighted with the prospect of a move to La Liga, the young striker revealed his childhood dream of playing for Barcelona.
"I would really like to play alongside Lionel Messi," Keirrison told Sport. "He is the best player in the world.
"Since I was very young I have wanted to play in a country and with a great club and, while I have nothing against any others, I have always identified with Barcelona.
"I have seen a lot of games when Romario and Ronaldo were there and that made me dream that one day I would play in a great club like Barcelona."
Liverpool, Real Madrid and Valencia have been keeping tabs on the youngster's progress, with Los Che having an earlier bid rejected.
looks unlikely that were going to get Keirrison now

Oh **** no.

How about Chamakh though? He was okay against us. Plus El Zhar could help him settle in. Both being Morroccan and all.

Voronin has been brilliant for Hertha Berlin, he was really unlucky with us, and did his job when needed..

Chamakh though, not good enough, doesn't score regularly enough..

Key members of Rafa Benitez's backroom team have today agreed new contracts with the club. Assistant Manager Sammy Lee, First Team Coach Mauricio Pellegrino, Goalkeeping Coach Xavi Valero, Fitness Coach Paco de Miguel and Chief Scout Eduardo Macia have all been given extensions of at least two years on their current deals.

The move is part of a phased approach to address the future of the club's backroom staff.

Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez commented: "I said when I signed my own deal recently that it was a priority to sort out the future of the technical staff.

"We work extremely well as a team and continuity is essential if we are to build on the progress we have made this season and move the club further forward. I'm delighted we have been able to sort out the contracts."

Valencia have gone on record saying that they don't want to sell Silva to another Spanish club. Guess that counts you guys out.

That's original..

Hopefully it is a smokescreen, but with the new rules coming in with English players in the squad, I don't think it will materialise.. I think Lennon might be the target this time, rather than him..
