Exactly i didnt think he really suited the English style while at Anfield, and now he looks very promising in Spain and after his great season with Reacritivo last season he has now got his big move to a team that are building to be good enough to challenge for La Liga and be regulars in the Champions League!

That is why the big 4 have to buy the best from abroard, because they don't have time to groom players to perfection, so they buy it instead. Look at the FA Youth Cup final - Chelsea only had about 2 English players. We only had about 2 non-English players, and we still won.
That is the problem exactly.. If Rafa drops Torres or Gerrard and plays Spearing or Lindfield, and we lose, he'd be slated for it.. We can't afford to lose those games, as they can generate money for us, which we need at the moment..

Presonally I don't rate Lindfield much, he's been on loan at League 2 clubs and not really done much.. I hope he proves me wrong though..

@Shinobiflux, he's on-loan at Forest atm... Has an injury though.. He's one to watch though..

Nottingham Forest

Impressed with his performance and goals for swansea last year, he tore league 1 apart with his pace. Could be a good option on the left on right for the future if he keeps on playing like he has been

Lucas: We Have Strength to Challange:

LUCAS: WE HAVE STRENGTH TO CHALLENGE
Paul Hassall 09 October 2008 Lucas Leiva is convinced Liverpool have enough strength-in-depth to challenge on all-fronts this season. The Brazilian midfielder feels the Reds have a much stronger squad than last year and accepts he must take his game to a higher level to earn a regular place in Rafael Benitez's starting XI.

"We did not win any trophies last season and we were all disappointed about that," he said.

"That is something we want to change this season and the squad is now stronger than it was so hopefully that will help us.

"If you look at last season we drew some games that we would have expected to win but we have started this season well and are picking up wins so that is positive.

"The squad is now much better which is good for the club because it means we all have to work really hard if we want to be in the team.

"For me, it is tough because we have so many good players in my position but hopefully I will get my chance and when I do I have to be ready."

LUCAS: WE HAVE STRENGTH TO CHALLENGE

I'll give Rafa credit though.. He has brought in young players and played them.. Insua, El Zhar, Hobbs, Pongolle, Nunez, Lucas etc.

Not all of them are in the first team yet, but look how long it took Wenger to build his team, patience is what we need, and with the young players we have, we can do really well..

Our midfield is to strong to brake into. Guthrie got a couple of chances before being loan out then later sold to newcastle, so i cant see Jay changing that unless gary ablett can try him in the holding role which might be to big of an ask for Jay who is only a small lad.

Ive seen him a couple of times in pre season and in reserves matches but i don't think at this stage you can really say he is terrible!

If we knew he was a star like Gerrard or Owen coming through the system he'd at least be on the bench

Exactly my point. Only one of those is English, and most of Wenger's youth is bought too. So these brilliant, young players get bought by big clubs and left to 'rot' if you will in the reserves.

My solution: Introduce a clause in contracts of <20-year-old players that allows them to go back to the club they are bought from for a season or two. That way, they play in a comfortable environment, and allowed to progress their skills, in the same timespan that they would be in the reserves with no-one they knew.

Utd wanted to do this with Aaron Ramsey kind of, they wanted to buy him, then loan him back to Cardiff for this season, but he deciced to go to Arsenal and spend most of his time on the bench.

But if you go down further to out academy, there are many highly rated players that we have who are English.. Eccleston, Amoo, Pepper, Chamberlain etc.

Isn't your idea the same as loan deals?..
