Carson: No Stoke moveStoke City have pulled out of the race to sign Scott Carson. The Potters had agreed a £3.5million fee for the Liverpool goalkeeper earlier this month, but they have now revealed they are no longer interested. A statement on their official website confirmed that they had halted their approach for the 22-year-old England international. "We can announce we are no longer pursuing Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson," said the statement. "The club will continue to look to improve the squad and remain hopeful of closing in on several new signings ahead of the Premier League campaign." Now West Brom have emerged as favourites to land Carson, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and has also been linked with Blackburn and Middlesbrough. |

Now here's some real fantasy....
Liverpool to Enter Eto'o Frame Samuel Eto'o could make a surprise move to Liverpool if the Premier League club fail in their bid to prise Robbie Keane away from Tottenham Hotspur. The Cameroonian striker is being offered to Europe's major clubs and many have already previously made contact to ask about his annual salary and transfer fee. While all those enquiries have failed to lead to a single concrete offer, Barça are determined to sell Eto'o this summer and may lower their demands in the coming weeks. That would allow Liverpool to make their move and Rafa Benítez believes that the powerful 27-year-old could form an incredible partnership alongside Fernando Torres. Finances at Anfield may be tight, but following the sale of Peter Crouch to Portsmouth, there maybe some room for negotiation with the Catalan giants. Manager Rafa Benítez is said to want Keane, but Tottenham will not let their captain go cheaply and his asking price could even rise above the amount Barça are requesting for their striker. Eto'o has flown back to Barcelona after a promotional trip to Uzbekistan and is due to return to pre-season training with the Blaugrana on Saturday. Talks are set to be held between the player, his agent, José María Mesalles, and Barcelona and they are predicted to not be easy as the striker has done nothing himself to push for an exit. Liverpool would be a destination that could attract Eto'o, however, and the promise of Champions League football is the key thing in his list of priorities of any would-be suitor. Pep Guardiola has stated that if no deal can be done and the goalscorer remains then he will have no problems incorporating him into his squad for the new season. Barcelona's board have said on various occasions that they want to off-load the forward, who joined the club four years ago from Real Mallorca, and buy a replacement. If Eto'o could stay healthy and not have a bad attitude, he could be a great acquisition for the Reds. If that deal came through it would be quite the shocker. |

Does he have the attitude problems or is it all a smoke screen for other issues?
We don't need a hardout World Class striker, we need just a very capable backup for Torres. Okay we pretty much need a World Class player so we cna also sit Torres beside him. |

Skysports.com understands Blackpool are closing in on the loan signing of Liverpool winger Adam Hammill.
The Anfield outfit have made Hammill available for loan as they look for him to gain more first-team experience. A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing the talented wideman, but Blackpool have jumped to the head of the queue for Hammill's signature. Tangerines boss Simon Grayson is a big admirer of Hammill and the young winger is thought to be keen on a switch to the Championship side. Blackpool are now hoping to try and thrash out a deal to bring the highly-rated youngster to Bloomfield Road. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez sees Hammill as a big part of his plans in the future and skysports.com understands the club have rewarded the player with a new deal before sending him out on loan. Its a shame really, I wanted to see if he could break into the first team as heis very talented, but I suppose first team football will be good for him.. |

i agree because Valencia desperately need money so we could sneak him in for around the same price as Barry or even less! As for barry i prefer Alonso too but with masch and lucas off to Olympics we desperately need some cover for that position

More and more rumours linking us with Sebastian Giovinco..
There are reports that have just emerged in England and Italy over the past few hours that suggest Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all hoping to take advantage of Sebastian Giovinco’s contract dispute with Juventus. Giovinco is one of the most exciting prospects to have come out of Italy in recent years, and he is being tipped by many experts to be a superstar of the very near future. The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Empoli, is owned by Juventus and is due to be part of their first team squad for the coming season. However, a few problems have begun to emerge between player and club regarding a new contract. Giovinco is demanding an improved deal, but so far transfer director Alessio Secco is only willing to pay the attacking midfielder €500,000 extra per year. Some statements, from yesterday, attributed to Giovinco’s agent Claudio Pasqualin appeared to suggest that he was confident that a new deal would be signed soon. However reports emerging in the last few hours suggest that Giovinco is far from happy with Secco’s offer, and as a result Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all ready to take advantage and bring the young prodigy to the Premiership. Such news, if confirmed, would surely horrify Juve fans, who several weeks ago launched a campaign to keep Giovinco, following reports that Secco was considering offloading him to Palermo. Done some research on him, and this video really sums him up.. ![]() YouTube - Giovinco - The next legend |

That's why I think we will see Plessis ALOT during the start of the season.
he played well against Arsenal, they had quite a few first teamers playing too. That's the only reason I cna see us bringing in Barry, but then after 3-4 weks we'd be stacked with central mids. Gerrard, Masch, Alonso, Barry, Lucas and if Plessis plays well he could get a look in. That's too many central midfielders when we have no wingers, we'd be turning into Real Madrid/Chelsea stocking up unnecessary players. |

I don't think we need to worry too much about the Olympics.. They will only miss the CL qualifiers and a couple of Premiership games, if our other midfielders stay fit, we'll be fine in that area.. And like Brendyne, there is always Plessis who can cover or Benayoun, Spearing etc.
