If the number 8 isn't legendary by the time Gerrard retires, then I'd have to question the thoughts of the rest of the Liverpool fans.
As if he isn't a legend already though. You'll see Gerrards face everytime you see something about Liverpool legends. Last edited by Brendyne; 14-07-2008 at 12:15 PM.. |

STOKE?
Yes, They were the Championship side I liked. Carson should be good for them I guess. It's a good signing, but if they go down he'd be straight out and at another PL club. So... for him idk if it's a good move. |

Thats practically a 4-1-2-2-1
Seeing as Babel and Silva are wide players (who dont like defending) that would only leave Mascherano in midfield (and maybe gerrard if he gets back) then Aguero isnt gonna defend so you are pretty much left with 1 midfielder and that is just too low and in my life i have never seen a team play that formation where the two next to the holding midfielder are wingers with those players this is a balanced team: ____________________________ REINA ___________________________ ______________________ AGGER ____ SKRTEL ____________________ __ CARRAGHER ___________________________________ DOSSENA __ ___________________MASCHERANO _ GERRARD_______________________ ___ SILVA ________________________________ ______BABEL _____ _____________________ AGUERO ____ ___________________ ____________________________ TORRES ______________________ If Rafa wants Gerrard to play just behind Torres then he shouldnt buy Aguero

I agree with everything you've said there.
I don't get why people put left footed Silva on the right and right footed Babel on the left. But whatever. I don't think the buy will have been Aguero. Hopefully it is Silva and then we cna just play the formation we did last season. Alonso to stay Barry to not come would be my preference.

So Carson coming to my home town Stoke
4m is cheap imo he is stil a young decent keeper and we should seel him to a bigger club who are willing to pay more. Either way they will be the Derby of the Prem this year.

I think Babel should be playing as a striker. He has a very powerful shot and has better dribbling ability than Voronin. He needs to play the position that he's most comfortable in.
Benayoun usually performs well on the wing. Like that good run in the Champions league semi V Chelsea where he set Torres up with a great run. I'd take the risk of Babel and Torres together. Babel is going to be a fantastic player someday and i think he'll make a much better striker than winger. |

Yes his crossing isnt great but how many times have we seen him take defenders to the byline, cut in and leather it. i just dont feel he'd have the same impact as a striker, Rafa obviously feels the same or he wouldnt be after Keane

So Silva (L)______________________ Babel (R).. You see? And to vivaronaldo, that is the team that Rafa has used in the past season.. We didn't concede to many goals.. [EDIT] And its supposed to be: Mascherano_________ Lucas _________ Gerrard or Aguero (whatever happens).. Put them the wrong way round.. |

Juve's Ranieri Says No More Out-Field Signing's - Liverpool's Alonso Move Off?
The much expected move of Spanish International Xabi Alonso to Serie A side Juventus from Liverpool finally looks dead in the water. Juve have completed the signing of Danish International Christian Poulsen from La Liga club Sevilla for €9.7million (£7.4m), with I Bianconeri coach Claudio Ranieri claiming that Juve will sign no more out-field player’s this summer. 26-year-old Alonso has been linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico all summer, but a deal stalled, with a difference in opinion over the valuation of the EURO 2008 Winner. The Reds valued Alonso in the region of £14million (€17.5m), but La Vecchia Signora’s valuation of Alonso fell well short according to reports. Now that Danish International Poulsen has completed his move from Spain, Ranieri has revealed that he only wishes to add another goalkeeper to the squad this summer. “Now all that we are missing is a goalkeeper,” said Ranieri. “I am very pleased with this result and I thank the club for giving me a good team. “With Poulsen’s arrival we continue with the project that was born the year before I came, and that is to take Juventus to the highest levels again. Poulsen’s transfer has angered certain sections of the Juve fans, who were hoping for a big-name signing, but Ranieri is upbeat that Poulsen will shine in Serie A. He continued: “I asked for two players in every position and I got them. With the new purchase we will have quality in midfield. Whoever doubts Poulsen's talents will just have to be proved wrong.” |

Silva will also go for around 25 million due to his EURO performance. If Berbatov is priced at 22 million than Keane can't be far behind. He's been a great for the Spurs. two of three out of that bunch would be quite costly. But I'm with you, I'd love to see any of those guys playing for us next year. I'm also really pumped that Daniel Agger has made his return. ![]() And holding onto Alonso is key. He'll want to remind Rafa why he should never have wanted Barry in the first place. This season looks to be a very exciting and promising one. We've got a solid backline with Carra, Agger, Skrtel, and Dossena. I'm thinking Carra should start the season playing LB. |

I have seen many posts on here and other LFC forums that we should have around 20 million right now from sales and will be gaining more and we had something around 20 million from the owners to buy players.
If we were to offer Alonso plus 10-15 million for Aguero they would almost have to accept. That leaves 25 million or so to go for either Keane or Silva. It is interesting seeing Berbatov probably goin to United now as I am seeing it on Sky Sports even. With that they would be a lot less likely to let Keane go. How the hell woudl they score goals? They would have to go out and buy Eto'o or something. That points to Keane or Aguero for me. Outside of that if we all can see it then certainly the Raf can see that we need a winger, and the best available to us is Silva. Hey, it's late. I'm trying
