![]() Rafa Keane on Spurs ace Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed his interest in signing Robbie Keane, but has ruled out a move for David Villa. Benitez is in the market for striking reinforcements with Peter Crouch on the verge of a move to Portsmouth and has been linked with moves for Tottenham star Keane and Valencia hit-man Villa. Keane's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Spurs would listen to offers for the Republic of Ireland international. Villa has been a long-term target for Benitez, but the former Valencia boss admits it is unlikely the Reds will be signing the Euro 2008 top scorer. "I said the other day that he is one of the names we had on our list, but I can say at this moment that it is not an option for us," said Benitez. "We know Villa is a very good player, we know the price and we know the players we have, so when you consider everything we decided he was one of the names, but at this moment, not our target. "Keane is one of the other names and okay we are still working with other names. We were in contact and we will see now." |

RAFA PLAYS DOWN VILLA TALK
Liverpoolfc.tv 10 July 2008 Rafa Benitez today played down reports he is ready to swoop for Spain hero David Villa. Speaking at the unveiling of Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena this afternoon, the Liverpool boss was quizzed on possible replacements for the outgoing Peter Crouch. Benitez said: "I said the other day that Villa is one of the names we had on our list, but I can say at this moment that it is not an option for us. "We know Villa is a very good player, we know the price and we know the players we have, so when you consider everything we decided he was one of the names, but at this moment, not our target. "Keane is one of the other names and, okay, we are working on other names. We were in contact and we will see now." |

Good, £32m is a hell of a lot for a player off the back of a tournament... Rather spend that on a couple of players rather than one..

I know we should never use FIFA as a scouting tool.
But has anyone looked for Dossena on the game? Degen is a 75 on NG and Dossena is a 61. Now. That's quite some rise form Dossena to go from looking like a career reserves player to an international for Italy and a 7m signing for Liverpool. |

FIFA is usually lalalala for that kind of thing, ratings, i mean. I seriously believe that Dossena will succeed. I've watched him play several times against top sides in Serie A and doing well defending. He had no problem shutting down Kaka the entire game i watched against AC Milan and also was a great offensive help down the wing. Hopefully Degen will impress as well Last edited by Portland1; 11-07-2008 at 06:18 AM.. |

I wasn't saying I was using it as a tool. I was saying that it showcases that in one season his career has boomed tremendously. |

I'm not saying you cna base how good a player is off it.
What I'm saying is it shows the rise of Dossena from looking like a career backup to probably starting at left back for Liverpool. He's a CB on the game btw. |

FIFA ratings..
Look at Skrtel, oh so underrated! He'll probably be rated higher than Agger in the next game...I really hope they succeed, especially that Left back.
