![]() Hungarian trialist Zsolt Poloskei will spend a season-long loan at Liverpool, the club has confirmed. The midfielder was one of three MTK Hungaria teenagers to arrive at Melwood for pre-season trials. Having impressed staff, the 17-year-old has already been handed a loan deal and will battle it out for a place in Gary Ablett's reserves during 2008-09. Poloskei's settling in process will be helped by the presence of Peter Gulacsi, Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon, who all arrived from MTK a year ago. |

Rafa Reveals Villa Interest
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that Valencia striker David Villa is right at the top of his summer shortlist… Villa’s stunning showing at EURO 2008, where he was top scorer with four goals as Spain claimed a long-overdue international crown, has seen him become perhaps the hottest property on the transfer market. The 26-year-old is tipped to leave los Che after a disappointing season that saw them flirt with relegation, although new coach Unai Emery is desperate to keep him at the Mestalla. Liverpool have always been mentioned among the lead candidates to capture Villa’s signature, given the impressive link the ex-Real Zaragoza hitman formed with Reds ace Fernando Torres in Austria and Switzerland. And now Benitez has confirmed he is intent on raiding his old hunting ground to bring 'El Guaje' to Anfield, although he understands his former club might not be willinge sellers. "We have Torres, Voronin, Kuyt, Babel and Steven Gerrard, who can play as a second striker," Benitez said. "But we will try to bring in another option. "Villa we know all about. He is on our list. But maybe it will be difficult." Villa's potential acquisition raises questions about what position Gerrard will play next season, as the Liverpool skipper had begun to form an impressive attacking partnership with Torres last term. ****....YES |

I can't believe how people are still banging on about silva, if we realy need someone to play on the left we should try signing Jerome Rothen from PSG he's class and is a decent set piece taker too. I realy will laugh if we sign silva and he fails.
And wouldn't people rather see Keane instead of Villa? Keane has good EPL experience and has proved he's good enough to play in it. |

Keane's one of the best strikers in the premiership. He plays with passion and has said in the past that he's a lifelong reds fan. He'd be an incredible signing. As far as the winger situation goes, Rafa most likely has several top class targets he's looking at. He has made some very good signings recently and we just need a few more "pieces of the puzzle" to really make a push at the title. |

Guys don't read into it too much.. Apparently the interview Rafa actually gave said he thought Villa would compliment Torres well, and the papers have mixed his words up to make him sound interested...

POMPEY MAKE CROUCH STATEMENT
Jimmy Rice 09 July 2008 Peter Crouch has agreed personal terms with Portsmouth, the south coast side are reporting. The England striker is expected to arrive at Fratton Park in the next 48 hours for a medical before the move can be completed. Portsmouth's official website is reporting: "Peter Crouch has agreed personal terms with Pompey over his switch from Liverpool. "The two clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 27-year-old England international, who spent nine months at Pompey in 2001-02. "The player is due at Fratton Park in the next 48 hours for a medical." Crouch is leaving Liverpool to pursue regular first-team football. The Reds announced earlier this week that a fee had been agreed for a player who has scored 42 goals in 135 Anfield appearances. |

i watched the LFC TV channel yesterday and rafa said villa was one of the names not the top target, he also said that he was looking to strengthen the attack so that could be anyone (Keane hopefully), to be honest i dont want us to sign silva because he will cost alot which would mean no money for othe players, i would rather go for simao if hes available, or even Downing.

O'Neill makes Barry proposal
![]() Reports suggest Villa will accept £17million plus Steve Finnan (not worth that IMO) Martin O'Neill says Aston Villa have written to Liverpool to propose a deal for Gareth Barry. Liverpool are desperate to sign the Villa captain and last week saw a new bid of £15million rejected. Villa have already turned down multiple offers from their Premier League rivals, with manager O'Neill valuing his skipper in the £18million bracket. Reports suggest that O'Neill would be willing to accept £17million, plus Reds full-back Steve Finnan in part exchange. O'Neill has not confirmed his interest in Finnan, but has revealed that a proposal has been put to his Liverpool counterpart Rafa Benitez. Up to Liverpool "Liverpool have come back to us and we have responded to their proposal with a letter," O'Neill told the Birmingham Mail. "We're still waiting to hear back from Liverpool after putting that proposal to them. "It's really up to Liverpool. I really don't know how it's going to work out at the moment. "I'm sure there will be some sort of resolution at some stage or another." Not shocked Meanwhile, Villa striker John Carew is 'sad' about the prospect of Barry leaving, but is hoping the club bring in a quality replacement. "What is happening with Gareth is part of football," said Carew. "I don't think anyone is shocked, although you don't want to lose someone who was one of our best players last year and for all the seasons he has been at Villa. "That is football and that's the way things work and now we are just waiting to see who comes in to replace him - but I think it will be a good player coming in. "It is sad that Gareth is going, but I don't use much energy on it. I am focusing on the team we have here, the players we have here, and not all the surroundings." |

i dont wanna see Finnan go. However, he is getting old and we have already bought a few defenders this summer.

Oh my god, O'neill is a greedy ****. Barry is worth 15 mill tops, not 17 plus a defender! If you take that deal, it would be a sad day for football
