MON is taking the P!ss now
Barry needs to push for the deal by going on strike or something because Villa are being a bunch of greedy lalalalas now ![]() We would be better off pulling out of the deal and keeping Alonso who imo is a better player |

INSUA PENS NEW ANFIELD DEAL
Paul Eaton 02 July 2008 Liverpool youngster Emiliano Insua has today put pen to paper on a new three year Anfield deal. The Argentine full-back - who has made five first team appearances for the club - has signed a deal to keep him on Merseyside until June 2011. The 19-year-old is a regular for his country's under-20 team and was a key performer in Liverpool's second string landing the league title last season. |

![]() I'm sure if Barcelona came in for Gerrard or Torres (only an example) and the player desperately wanted the move, I'm sure you wouldn't appretiate the lad going on strike, so how can you ask another teams player to do it? Considering the huge wages footballers receive and how loyal supporters are (especially to Barry when he suffered a huge loss of form three or four season's ago and his mate Hendrie was shown the door), footballers should be less militant in theit actions, not more militant.

i think if a player wants to go then the team should let him go. It's not right to keep him.

If Gareth Barry is an integral part of the Aston Villa team which he obviously is then Villa have every right to ask for a huge transfer fee (especially as the player is under contract) as it would more than likely take a lot of money to replace him. The buying club (Liverpool in this instance) has two option: 1) cough up the money that Villa are asking or 2) refuse to sign the player and look elsewhere. As for players throwing their dummies out of their prams and going on strike, if we go down that route then contracts become redundant, and every club in the League other than the richest and most prestigeous (the 'big four' again!) may as well go out of business because they will be the biggest losers.

Villa are asking for wayyyyyyy more then Barry is worth. And it's because they know he wants to leave and they know Liverpool are serious about buying him. So they put that huge price on him not because they know he's so good but because they know Liverpool won't be able to pay. And that's not right.
A bunch of clubs have said they wanted to buy Arda Turan from Galatasaray. Galatasaray have put a price on him and a bunch of clubs are willing to pay. Our chairman has also said if he wants to leave he is allowed to leave and we won't force him to stay. A bunch of clubs want him but he doesn't want to leave. Appiah who plays for Fenerbahce wants to play for Juventus and Juventus want to buy. But Fenerbahce's chairman, Aziz Yildirim, says he won't sell him. no matter what. Appiah refused to play for the team unless they sold him and they didn't. They didn't pay him this season since he refused to play. He didn't go to practice at all all season. That's not right. If he wants to leave so badly fine, put a reasonable price on him and let him go.

This Barry thing is a bit like the Ronaldo thing going on, he wants to leave but the manager won't let him, its stupid imo if a player wants to leave and the offer is there and you reject it forcing them to stay they aren't gonna play their best football

Bloody hell, stop making Silva out to be some amazing winger, just because he played a few good games at Euro2008 doesn't make him world class. I've seen him play for Valencia a few times and he isn't all that!
I wish we would keep Alonso though, he's world class, got as good vision and passing ability as someone like Pirlo imo. Last edited by wowGEEKevl; 03-07-2008 at 02:23 AM.. |

Trap Pushes Keane Towards Anfield
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has urged his star charge Robbie Keane to jump on the chance to join Liverpool this summer. Tottenham already have their work cut out for them to convince Keane to resist the lure of Liverpool, so they will not be in the least bit happy that his national team manager has so publicly encouraged his player to make a move to 'advance his career'. Trapattoni told the Daily Mail: "I don’t know what is happening with Liverpool at the moment but I would be very happy for him (to move). “I hope it happens for him because it will be a big challenge. It would be important for him and important for us.” The Sun claimed on Monday that Keane has told Spurs boss Juande Ramos he wants to leave, while virtutally simultaneously Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has weighed in with a Crouch plus cash swap proposal. According to the Irish Independent, Tottenham have now made it clear that they will resist all offers for the 27-year-old, who is considered one of the key components of the London side's determined drive to become a genuine top four side. I really like the idea of having Robbie Keane. Great striker and he's premiership tested. It would be a good move for the club. |

according to setanta website we are signing the Palmeiras goalkeeper although masch is off to the olympics.lucas is going to so it seems a great scenario overall as Alonso is certain to stay. rafa isnt stupid, alonso is the only one who can really step in if masch and lucas go if we keep the same formation barry and alonso can play there or with a 4-4-2 if keane comes then we can have:
---Babel-----Gerrard-----Alonso-------Barry i hate the transfer window Last edited by MaschPotato; 03-07-2008 at 04:02 PM.. |
