It is getting quite boring isn't it Dave..
Go back to the Man U thread, 'Manc'... Anyway, Pellegrino was a top defender in his day, and could probably use that to help the defence.. IIRC, he was poor, but he was a great defender at set-pieces, which we struggled with last season.. Maybe that will change.. |

Keane Demands Liverpool Switch - Report
Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane has reportedly pulled a Gareth Barry by demanding he be transferred to Liverpool… The Sun claims that Keane has told Spurs boss Juande Ramos he wants to leave, just days after Barry publicly announced his desire to quit Aston Villa in favour of the Reds. The Merseyside giants have been linked on and off with the Irish hitman over the past few seasons, though never with any great conviction. However, recent developments and the current circumstances of both clubs suggest the speculation may be more concrete this time around. Rafa Benitez is keen to increase his attacking options over the summer to accommodate his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, especially given the likely departure of unsettled target-man Peter Crouch. Hence, the Spaniard has reportedly offered the England international to the Lilywhites in a part player-exchange valued at around ₤20million, which would see Keane make the switch to Anfield. Ramos will not let half of his star strike-duo leave so easily, however, especially given the other half – Dimitar Berbatov – is also intent on exiting White Hart Lane. The pair have tallied an impressive 91 goals in their two seasons together, establishing themselves as arguably the Premier League’s most lethal goal-scoring partnership. And so if one leaves in search of Champions League football, it is quite likely that the other may wish to follow – which would explain Ramos’ reluctance to sell ₤16million flop Darren Bent. If this is true, it is indeed great news. Keane is one of the top strikers in the premiership and has already proven to be a threat in this league. I think that the 20 million would be well worth it, and getting a player that is proven in this league is very important. Not everyone can adjust to this league like Torres has, and we have to keep that in mind. I'd love to see David Villa in a Liverpool jersey, but if someone like Keane becomes available and for less money than i'll absolutely take him. Picking up Keane would mean that we could now focus on picking up a top quality winger such as David Silva or Bastian Schweinsteiger. Shweinsteiger can play most midfield positions and is an excellent dribbler. |

Reds Eye Wantaway Juninho
Liverpool have been tentatively linked with a move for disgruntled Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Juninho Pernambucano… uninho recently told l’Equipe that he may leave Stade Gerland this summer, as he is less than satisfied with Lyon’s decision to sack Alain Perrin as coach and hire Claude Puel in his stead. And rumours have sprung up that Reds boss Rafa Benitez is willing to pay ₤3million to bring the 33-year-old to Anfield. The Brazilian playmaker may not have youth on his side, but he is nonetheless regarded as one of Europe’s pre-eminent attacking midfielders and arguably the finest free-kick taker in the world. While all reports at this stage are little more than mere speculation, the former Selecao star could be seen as an ideal mentor for his young compatriot Lucas Leiva and, of course, the solution to Liverpool's inconsistency from dead-ball situations. I dont really understand this move, if it were to be true. But Juninho knows what it is like to win titles with several Ligue 1 titles and a world cup under his belt. He is an incredible free kicker though. Despite his age, he is still a great player. YouTube - Juninho, Free kick Master |
