Liverpool Win Race For Danish Wonderkid
According to the latest news out of Denmark, Liverpool have swooped for Herfolge starlet Nikola Saric, arguably the country's most promising teenager. The Reds reportedly beat out interest from Tottenham and Barcelona for the 17-year-old playmaker, who is clearly held in high esteem amongst both his club and suitors. Indeed, Herfolge sports director Per Rud could hardly believe his ears when Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez personally rang up to make the offer. "'This is Rafa' he said," Rud told the club's official websitet. "I almost thought it was a lie! "We are pleased and proud that Nikola has gone to one of the world's best football clubs. We would have liked to have earned more money from Nikola but his injury and the fact that his contract expired in the New Year made it difficult. iverpool acted extremely well in all cases and knew all the details," he added. "They have been fair in the process and could've waited until the New Year but they will have him over now." Saric has been offered a three-year deal and is set to officially put pen-to-paper on the contract before the end of the week. |

Why is Benitez reduced to rummaging through the garbage bins for players?
Wheeling and dealing down the market place for discount prices and free samples. Selling one mediocre player in order to buy another mediocre player. Silva/Quarezma/Schweinzsteiger should our top priority, not Dossenma, Degen, and a whole bunch of other bargain basement players. |

Gillett: “We are now on site”
Enabling works are set to be carried out by LFC as preperations take shape to begin development work on our new 73,000 seat stadium. Initially set to have a capacity of 60,000, the new stadium is planned to be ready for the 2011/12 season. “This is a significant milestone for the club and I am delighted that the design received full planning consent and that we are now on site,” Gillett told the Offish site. “We have been working very hard over the last six months to move the details of the design along but this is the first tangible evidence for fans that a new LFC stadium will be built.” he added. |

REDS COULD FACE LAZIO FRIENDLY
Paul Hassall 27 June 2008 Liverpool could be set to welcome Italian giants Lazio to Anfield as they put the final touches to their preparations for the forthcoming campaign. Rafael Benitez's side now look set to face Delio Rossi's side on Friday August 8 as a final warm-up match ahead of a Champions League qualifying round and the big kick-off at Sunderland on August 16. It had previously been reported that the Reds would face Fernando Torres' old club Atletico Madrid, but the two sides could not reach agreement and the Biancocelesti now look the more likely visitors. If the match does get the go-ahead it would be Liverpool's first home pre-season fixture for five years, when Rafael Benitez's Valencia came to Anfield and claimed an impressive 2-0 win. |
