Coors* Yes you tart I realised that after I was typing an lookin at it.

Best sponsor so far though, I like the plain kits though, none of the fancy stuff Arsenal try to do every season.

Arrf, you twunt!

That kit, plus the way the design was on the back. I just preferred our all blue one with Fly Emirates on it.

Utds current one looks stupid with the stripes at the back too, strange yes, but they just irritate me.

I was going by home kits, but yes, exactly what I mean, an speakin of away kits, their 1993'ish away kit was ugly as fark too.

You want bad kits, our tangerine an graphit kit with COORS on it was absoloutely disgusting, an that red diamond away one with Commodore on it was a close 2nd, yuck.

Yes it was the opposite.

If you look back at details of European Cup campaigns in the 1970’s and 1980’s see names like Dynamo Kiev, Red Star Belgrade, Dynamo Dresden and Steau Bucharest people tend to view then now as weaker sides based on their current reputation in European football.

People forget that in this period players from Eastern Europe were far less inclined to move to Western European clubs than they are today, so it wasn’t unusual to see teams like Dynamo Kiev with the European Footballer of the Year in their starting line-ups (pretty unthinkable nowadays).

The Red Star Belgrade team from the early 1990’s formed the backbone of the Yugoslavian national team and players like Vladimir Jugović, Siniša Mihajlović, Dejan Savićević, Robert Prosinečki and Darko Pančev were world-class players at that time.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp believes the Champions League is 'fast replacing the Carling Cup' and the group stages were 'monotonous' and 'plodding'.

http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/37536.gif

Redknapp, writing in his column in the Sun newspaper, said the huge disparity between many of the clubs meant 'weeks of meaningless practice games, where the fans pay top prices to watch teams already through to the second round - or already doomed'.
He continued: 'The Champions League is fast replacing the Carling Cup as a stage for the reserves to enjoy a few days in a pretty, foreign town and a run out.'

Redknapp, whose Portsmouth side are currently fifth in the Barclays Premier League, a position at the end of the season that would guarantee a place in the UEFA Cup, admitted his views might 'sound odd'.

But he said recent scorelines - such as Liverpool's 8-0 demolition of Besiktas and Arsenal's comprehensive 7-0 victory over Slavia Prague - were becoming commonplace.

'It is because of the huge disparity between the teams and, moreover, what I regard as the monotonous, plodding group stages,' he said, adding that it only gets interesting in the second round.

Redknapp points out the games that are interesting are those that take on 'the feel of the traditional, old knockout match'.

He said: 'I am speaking not as a manager and member of the football fraternity but as a punter who likes to watch exciting games on TV.'

Redknapp also said the UEFA Cup was suffering the 'same syndrome', but admitted: 'I know the big clubs' chief execs would be dead set against reverting to the old format.'
I kind of agree with Harry on that...the group stage IS pretty pointless and redundant....and youll always have the same teams in the quarterfinals in the end.

Sort of backs up the point that teams of the past have no chance whatsoever in todays continental competition

Fulham tonight, at anfield. A win is a must.

From what i've seen and heard our starting XI will look like this...

--------Crouch-------------------Kuyt---------

---Babel---Mashcerano---Gerrard---Benayoun---

---Riise---Hyypia------Carragher------Finnan---

---------------------Reina---------------------

Subs:

Torres (likely to come on)
Kewell (likely to come on)
Arbeloa
Fabio Aurelio
Voronin
Lucas
Leto

Should be an interesting one... I'm backing a 2-0 win, Crouch and Kewell the scorers, or atleast Kewell with an assist he's in top form atm.

yay torres his 8th of season. Lets hope he gets 15 - 20 by the end of the season.

Good win for us, we needed it. It's the boost we need, and the reassurance we need.

loved torres's goal today, excellent. Dump Kuyt, you need to play Crouch and Torres for any chance of the title.

i mean i got nothin against the rotation policy but we need to keep our 3 or 4 main players in each game unless theres like 3 games in one week then rest them for one of the games

well ofcourse reina ain't gonna not play unless its the carling cup against a bad team and when pennant gets back from injury him and benayoun will swap around, mascherano (really hard to spell) and xabi alonso are both great players so they'll swap around and finnan well once and a while him and arbeloa will swap but arbeloa is still class so it doesn't matter
