Hehe ok pass by Diarra sure but for an assist thats one of the cheaper ones

Robben received it on the wing and started dribbling across the field Messi style and then curled it into the top left corner.

I'm not saying it should an Assist by Lass, that goal was 100% skill by Robben but it was a great cross field ball to start the run

He created that style before Messi even signed a professional contract

AHHHH Huntelaar what happened there? Great cross by Sergio Ramos, KJH should've been offsides anyway but sigh gotta take care of the ref's mistake, good GKing there.

Would've been a great debut goal

Indeed. Lopez did well to keep the ball out, and the defence to stop Raul on the rebound.

I know you got it in for Messi and I know Robben has done runs like that before, but I think most people know it from Messi, so it's better to use as a description.

I don't have anything against Messi I was just saying, Robben is better known for his dribbles (and IMO if it wasn't for his injuries, he'd be the best), and was doing that back in Holland all the time before he was picked up by Chelsea.

Agreed, when Robben is healthy I think he's top 10-15 in the world, definitely one of the best wingers.

Raul had a slight chance there after a great cross by Robben, slipped on the turf though and it's still 1-0. Halftime.

Robben's goal was rather nice. I am a little surprised from a graphic displayed when he scored that this is only his 2nd goal of the season. That doesn't seem possible to be correct.

Anyone know what formation Madrid are playing? it's probably a 4-2-3-1 (4-2-2-2), but it looked off when I saw the players, really disorganzied after you get past the 2 holding midfielders

It looks like a 4-2-2-2 a bit there, you're right about the disorganization after you get pass Lass/Gago, Robben and Sneijder are out wide (Robben wider of course) and then you have the two forwards.

---------------Casillas---------------
Ramos-----Pepe----Cannavaro----Heinze
------------Lass------Gago----------
Robben---------------------Sneijder-
------------Raul----Huntelaar-------

The formation shown at the start of the game looked like this afaik:
4-2-2-2
Ramos-Canna-Pepe-Heinze
Gago-Diarra
Robben-Sneijder
Raul-Huntelaar

Sneijder and Robben playing as wings and Raul with a higher defensive / buildup work rate than Huntelaar.

Llorente is unpredictable

On the note of the formation, I don't like Sneijder out wide, he's better playing closer to the centre IMO, but putting Raul out wide instead would just make the team as less productive maybe.

Did Ramos prefer Huntelaar to Higuain or is he injured or something?

Yea Sneijder hasn't had that much impact out wide. I'd rather see him as CAM

Huntelaar has been pretty crappy. Madrid need a second goal with Villareal looking dangerous

Higuain is out with tonsillitis out for 7-10 days, HA did anyone else catch Juande Ramos clipping his fingernails on the bench?

As for Huntelaar I don't expect him to be the bicycle kicking maniac he was at Ajax right off the bat, if he scored earlier in the first half when he had his chance that would've been a massive boost to his confidence but give it time.
