Steven Defour is pretty sick if it's the one playing for Standar Liege, I believe that he recently became captain there but I don't think that he's as good as Xabi he has the potential to be even better than him, but he's not right now!

I totally agree with Dena. From what Ive seen we are extremely inept at maintaining and properly distributing that ball from the back to the front.

Gago has totally regressed as a player imo. I'm really curious to see Mamadou play again.
This is probably going to sound stupid, but here goes...

Did you really expect anything more from the teams you've been fielding in the pre-season so far? You've mixed a bunch of players who haven't really played much together before with some who honestly doesn't hold Real Madrid class.
I've said it before that I think you need at least the entire pre-season for your squad to look like a decent team. And I think you shouldn't be surprised if the squad can't seem to find eacother yet.

Plus, you might be getting Alonso soon, and he's pretty good at bringing the ball from the back to the front...

gago has been sliding since the second half of last years season and I'm referring to basic passes that should be completed by kids playing pick up at the park. And tackles....he just throws himself recklessly hoping the ball will hit him eventually Means he's consistantly misreading the play and positioning himself incorrectly and eventually will hurt himself LOL! Nothing fancy, just the basics. About Alonso, there is no way it's a done deal. may end up being another Villa situation in the end.

Tell that to everyone else, it's what I've been saying for about a week and a half know, 3/4ths of our backline hasn't even played a game yet.

Exactly, if it isn't done by the Lyn game, I can see him staying.. There will be a point where we'll say to them, enough is enough, he's not leaving the club.. If we get to the Atletico game and he's still a Liverpool player, he won't be going anywhere I think..

My president thinks so but he seems to think now adays mor about shirt sales then what players do at the pitch.. and i freaking hate that.
Just buy alonso for 35 milions thats NOTHING for alonso if you consider the price for players now.

Edit: Players like alonso are at there peak form around the age of 28-31.

He sees Xabi as a cost not an investment and honestly when you think about it he is, someone like Xabi or Albiol doesn't really generate shirt sales so the money you spent on the transfer fee may never be really recuperated, but Ronaldo, Kaka, Benz etc. are and that's part of the 'galactico' policy, but as we all saw in Galacito v.1 you can have a pretty car but it ain't lalalala without the engine, which is good because we have seen Albiol, Arbeloa come in to shore up the defense, and Alonso is being pursued to help the midfield, so Perez (really it's Valdano) is changing his outlook. It's good to see.

Long story short, I know he won't sell shirts, but just lalalalaing pay up.

Cheers. I heard that from the meeting nothing moved forward, i.e neither club moved on their stance, but not sure if it's true.

Yes perez, pay up! Let's go to n. America with a finalized squad and start playing serious and not with 50% of the players that are gonna be in a garage sale. Why effing bother playing with players who won't be with us? We need to start gelling with players that are actually gonna play

Who the lalalala is Stefen Defour , I saw two Standard Liege games last season but I was mostly focused on Onyewu, so I was blind to everyone else, what kind of midfielder is he, is he in a Xavi mold? a Xabi mold? a [insert midfielder here] mold?

Why do I ask?

Interest in the Belgium is high, real high. And apparently Real/Standard have some type of agreement that will make the transfer procces smooth (take note other clubs *shakes fist*).

Purslow, I think he's a Liverpool rep, says they won't budge from their 35 ME + 5 ME in incentives asking price.

I know nothing of this guy. Zilch. But if he's a similar player and is belgiums best player, wteff are we doing going after Xabi? So what if he's younger? Let's take a chance and see where we go with him. That way everyone will be happy, except Xabi. Don't mind me I'm not all there right nw, good nght.I can't wait till August 29 already so we don't have to pit up with these sagas.

Real Madrid | El mediocentro que quiere el club blanco : Cumbre en Barcelona por el fichaje de Alonso - AS.com

Seems it's getting closer now, AS reports that the deal is "only a matter of time" and Real will pay the 30 + 5 million euro transfer fee (they don't say nothing is agreed upon, they are just reporting that Real will agree to pay the fee basically).

Today is the supposed last day for a deal to be made, so I guess the guys at Madrid decided they can't negotiate any longer, if this article is true.
