Centrally mate. He is a born playmaker and isn't a proper winger. I love watching old clips of him at West Ham when he played virtually anywhere, but his best moments were in the centre. Could create something out of nothing much like an Iniesta type player.

For a wideman, he cuts in too much and i think is a clear example of how much he is more fitting to be playing in the centre. Proper wingers are the ones that will take on their opposing man, beat them with pace or guile and get a cross in like Malouda. Really, even Kalou is a better winger than Cole in that sense.

I think he is the best person to replace Lampard when his time comes. He certainly isn't as direct as Lampsy but Cole's a far more creative outlet ontop of being technically leagues better than Lampsy. Also defensively as well all know, Cole is very dilligent. And he's a chelsealad through and through..what more could we want?

I share that opinion mate, I've never considered him to be a winger in the true sense of the world, hopefully Ancelotti realizes it early on

Very talented and blue through and through, i reckon Coley will spend the rest of his career at SW6.

That was a good goal. I generally feel bad for San Marino

Carvalho started for Portugal against Albania and did a solid job in defence. I'm not gonna lie when I say, I hope he can keep playing at a high level for as long as possible - but Chelsea over the past 5 years are a club on the rise, and he's served you guys loyally, and at times I felt he was more of a club man than a country man (not in the music sense ). I fear that Alex and Ivanovic will inevitably take his place in the coming years.

Has any word, other than his last interview in Portuguese, come out of the Chelsea camp on his status at the club?

He still has the ability and probably our most gifted defender but the club needs to look forward and Alex or anyone else playing is going to benefit the club in the longer term. I think Alex has done more than enough to make the position his own and i expect Carlo to see it the same way.

Carvalho hasn't said anything and neither has anyone here but i'd imagine he would like to stay in London. His family love where they are and usually you don't expect 31 year olds to have bold ambitions for playing abroad again(in reference to him looking at possibly going to Inter) but it could be different with him. I think for what it's worth, he can start for any team in the world but his injuries have become a real problem and for a club in transition, he certainly is not an option. I would love it if he was to stay in England, even if he joined Arsenal or Spurs i wouldn't care because he's been one of my favourite players, the fans love him and wish him the best of luck.

Personally i do think he will end up at Inter UNLESS the right offer from an English club comes in

I'd like him to stay but i think we may see him move on, Alex is more than capable of replacing him for an entire season and i think if Alex does not get much game time next season he will want to leave the club, which is a bad thing considering his age.

I'm 50-50 really, would love for Riccy to stay but if he were to leave i would thank him for his brilliant service and wish him well for the future.

Valencia reject Villa bid from Chelsea. Its on Sky Sports News right now.

Reason for rejection was that talks with Real Madrid are in advanced stages and Villa wants to go to Madrid.

I must admit, I am very skeptical about Ancelotti. It could be another Scolari affair all over again. I watched a number of Milan games this season and not only his team selection was dreadful but more worryingly his lack of tactical changes during games Milan were clearly performing poorly in.

You, like many....wait no, ALL other Chelsea fans are skeptical with the Ancelotti appointment, which you have a right to, he only one the league once, in a 8 year helm BUT, honestly, who else has a better CV than him that is a available??? 4 CL FINALS as a coach!!! 2 won as a player. There weren't many real options available for Chelsea. I understand many of you, as I do, wish the club would give a chance to Moyes but there is no way Roman or Kenyon are going to appoint a manager that isn't a NAME, which is stupid but a fact. The only thing that worries me about Ancelotti is that he played DAVID BECKHAM, Mr. one dimensional, has no left foot, has no heading ability, has no flair, doesn't track back, can't tackle, doesn't score many goals, and doesn't have any pace but looks GORGEOUS in an Armani got to play in Ancelotti's first team over RONALDINHO!!! Absolutely stunning, a little frightening huh...

Cheers.

Gentlemen, I think it is the usher of a new era in football.
The power has once again shifted in the world of football. In the early 90's it was Italy, then Spain and then England for the last several years and now, once again it has shifted back to Spain.

This is a MAJOR BLOW for Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal. When Ronaldo, David Villa, Benzema, Ribery, Kaka, Aguero, Ibra, and Yuri Zhirkov have stated they would prefer to play in Spain or stay in Spain over England, it is a major blow for English clubs. We can now conclude that 3 best players in football, Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka (depending on who you talk to) are all playing in Spain. If Ribery (hope we can steal him in a swap deal with Boswinga to bring him to the famous cfc haha) and Ibra end up in Spain at the this transfer window, England have a major problem.

fyi, commercially, Real Madrid just made the greatest deal in the history of football. This deal blows Armani boys out of the water. Remember when Real got Beckham, the club's SHIRT SALES alone!, paid for the Beckham transfer before he even put on the famous Madrid shirt. Ronaldo is going to make that club so much money, its going to be unimaginable. Plus on top of that, Madrid signed a BILLION DOLLAR television contract last year.

Cheers.

Bit naive fella
The 'interest' has shifted to Barcelona and Real Madrid..but on the pitch success? Definitely not to the rest of Spain. It's impossible for Spain to be out and out the best league at this point as there is not enough money for the other 18 teams as the their self-negotiating TV contracts are completely lopsided and favored to just those 2 clubs. The other 18 clubs don't have nearly enough money to compete internationally or even domestically in that respect.

Why sell Bosingwa? Ribery nice and all but that's just doing the old 1 step forward, 2 steps back in my book. If we're not guaranteed a decent ROI then no point in selling him off, he's been good and i wouldn't settle for anything less than near double for what we payed for him. Only a moron would sell him for less.

Drogba
Lampard - J. Cole
Zhirkov - Mikel - Essien
A. Cole - JT - Alex - Bosingwa

I know Ancelotti loves the christmas tree formation. And I think thats what we'd play if he uses it. Except maybe Ballack instead of Joey.

I honestly don't care, every paper is linking us with Glen Johnson, so i just thought a good possible deal would be, Chelsea to get Johnson, then get Ribery in a swap deal, by us sending Boswinga plus cash to Bayern. Seemed like a good deal to me. Its not going to happen anymore because Bayern just bought Edson Braafheid for left back, which means there going to switch Lahm to right back.

Ahh because for a minute there I would've been surprised if it was Carvalho

Yeah Deco would probably say that after his time at Chelsea

...you have to admit though, the three goals he scored in the league were of the highest quality the long range shot, the freekick, and the bicycle kick.
