i think this signing would make arsenal a threat, as the only problem with arsenal has been that they miss far too many chances...huntelaar wont miss many. people are gonna right arsenal off but i think they could finish top 3 with huntelaar
I respectfully disagree. Admittedly he's more proven, but I wouldn't say he was necessarily better.

People always say "Arsenal need a goal scorer", but since Wright left we haven't had one, Wenger doesn't think we need one, so I'll trust in him on that if he thinks the midfielders will weigh in with the goals (Nasri and Arshavin will). However if he decides we don't need a holding midfielder I'll have my reservations.

Touché...

However why do we need a goalscorer? How do we know Mr Wenger doesn't have another Titi under his hat... I reckon Dudu will come good and show you all!

Not bashing all of you, I've just become weary of whenever I make a comment getting told how much better than us Liverpool are and how we are gonna be 5th next year.

I've wanted Huntelaar at Arsenal since Henry left and I only PRAY that Adebayor is sold.

The last time anything was published officially regarding Toulalan and Arsenal was at the end of the 007/08 season when France Football posted pictures of Gilles Grimandi at Lyon games supposedly to watch Toulalan play. Since then its been quiet.

Huntelaar would work perfectly for us. I wouldn't say he is better than Eduardo because they are completely different players and have nothing in common except that they both play in attack. The only downside regarding Huntelaar playing for us is that he is great at heading and we don't really cross the ball at all to take advantage of that facet.

Not bashing anyone, I just think Liverpool supporters need to face reality and stop making it seem like they are better than they really are. Suddenly they are so far ahead of Arsenal when in reality this is the ONLY season in recent memory that they actually finished ahead of us but if you ask yours supporters they make it seem like they are leaps and bounds better than we are and that just isn't the case.

You keep saying Arsenal don't cross the ball enough but I disagree. Arsenal cross the ball a whole lot. Sanga makes 5-10 crosses a game, Clichy makes about 3-7 crosses a game, Nasri makes 2-4 crosses a game. Think about a ll the headers Arsenal have scored e.g Adebayor, Gallas, Toure, Diaby etc. Arsenal do cross the ball alot.

P.S Huntelaar is not better than Eduardo. I'm not saying that you said he was.

It's true that Sagna , Clichy, Eboue, Nasri and Arshavin crosses the ball a couple of times every match, BUT the final delivery is often very very bad. For example Clichy and Sagna's crosses last season were so poor that toghether they only racked up one single assist.

I think Chamakh would be pretty decent, he's better then Huntelaar in the air, but he's very good with the ball at he's feet and also he's faster then Huntelaar. Also if we buy Huntelaar I can't see how Wenger will buy an experienced defensive midfielder, so I would rather have Chamakh + Cana/Inler/Toulalan then Huntelaar + Matuidi.

I do hope that Sagna and Clichy have been running cross drills in training this season so we don't have to see their dreadful crossing :P

Arsenal definitely need another striker, in my opinion, Adebayor is terrible, Bendter scuffs alot of shots. And is it a rumour that they are trying to get Huntelaar or just who people on forums who say they should get him?

Btw Arsenal my second favorite team.

Got Arsenal TV online but can't be bothered to watch, this fixture is rarely very entertaining.

The parts of the lineup I remeber are:

Almunia
Silvestre
Djourou
Vermaelen
Gallas
Rosicky (c)
Randall
Arshavin
Sanchez-Watt

The others on were more youngsters as was the bench.

You can disagree all you'd like, but there is a big difference between crossing the ball for an oppurtunity to score and crossing the ball as we do. Clichy and Sagna are terrible at sending in consistent crosses as they have shown time and time again. Each are better at attacking down the side and passing the ball off once a 2nd defender helps out.

Of all the players you just mentioned none of them had more than 5 assists and of all the goals we scored less than 30% were headed goals.

Also it doesn't matter if Huntelaar is better than Eduardo, they can't be compared because they aren't similar players so comparing them would be foolish.

Chamakh is not better than Huntelaar in the air. Maroune is good in the air without a doubt, but Klaas is on a different level when it comes to his heading. The upside is that Maroune can attack the goal facing it where as Klaas is a back to goal striker, but that is more of what we need ebcause we have enough forward facing attackers.

As for cost you do realize that Chamakh and Huntelaar are going to cost about the same money because Bordeaux are going to try and cash in on him if he does leave and Real are wanting to recoup as much of the €20M they spent on Klaas last season. The likelihood of getting Cana (whom we are not even linked with) is small and Gohkan Inler will also be a little costly also. Adebayor going for £25M will fund either Chamakh or Huntelaar and we will still have enough to get a defensive midfielder because we were going to go use Eboue and £15M to get Melo so that means we have the money to get the two players we need.

Chamakh is valued at aprox £7M while Huntelaar is valued at £17M. How would they cost the same amount of money then? Chamakh is also in his final year of his contract, so that gives Bordeaux a bad place to be when trying to get the most for him. Huntelaar was signed in january, and has probably 3-4 years left on his contract, Real Madrid wants to cash in but he will cost atleast £10M more then Chamakh.

True we are not linked with Cana anymore, and Inler is not leaving Udinese anyway, but as you're saying we would probably afford a defensive midfielder no matter who we buy. I'm just crossing my fingers that Wenger has one in his mind that he will to bring in during the next weeks.

Marouane Chamakh is determined to leave Bordeaux for a move to the Premier League.

The Morroco international striker has been linked with a possible switch to Arsenal as a potential replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor.

Reports have suggested the Ligue 1 club want Gunners defender Mikael Silvestre in any deal for Chamakh.

However, Sunderland and Blackburn are also believed to be interested and the striker admits he would be open to any of the English trio.

"I will go, that is for sure even if the manager and the club officials want me to stay," Chamakh told Parisien-Aujourd'hui en France.

"Today Sunderland and Blackburn want me, where I could have signed because I have an agreement on all things with them, even if [Bordeaux president] Mr Triaud asks what I am going there for.

"I am thinking at the moment and I will take my time and decide."

"With Arsenal, it is not advanced enough the talks. If the deal happens with them my dream will be realised, but it does not bother me to play with Sunderland or Blackburn.

"My wish is that Bordeaux do not ask for silly money or ask for a player in the transaction."

Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc admits he is surprised by all the rumours claiming there have been no offers for Chamakh.

"I am reading a lot of things which are surprising me," said Blanc.

"What I can say is that, at this moment, no offer has come to Bordeaux.

"I hope his case will be sorted out before our departure for Montreal (on July 23, when Bordeaux travel to take part in the Trophee des Champions against Guingamp)
Looks like if we are going to replace Adebayor it will be Chamakh and not Huntelaar. He says if he were to play for Arsenal his dream would be realised so all we have to do is make a bid.

I dont understand why Arsenal are after that Chamakah. Ive never seen him play, but he scored less goals than Bendtner last season in a weaker league... No thanks.
