Eboue has become frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at Arsenal, so it's likely he'll want to move elsewhere, although I heard he would only move to a Premier League club (I may be wrong).

As for Melo, if Gilberto Silva, a well-respected player amongst his Brazilian team mates for his achievements, can convince Melo that Arsenal is the club for him, a deal should be done soon.

I'm still wondering how much money this deal will cost us.

Didn't Eboué say the opposite? That he'd only move away from the EPL? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he only wanted a move to Serie A if he left us?

As for Melo, the article linked that a twenty five million euro buyout clause was included in the new deal. Eboué would move for a decent sum hopefully, about £7.5m? Working out at something like £13m for Melo. I wouldn't be upset if we paid a lot for a player, as it would certainly indicate that Wenger is willing to spend a lot of money to strengthen us, and that would make me feel a lot secure towards next season as an Arsenal fan.

Fiorentina have released a statement revealing they would be willing to negotiate the sale of Felipe Melo to Arsenal with Emmanuel Eboue involved in a potential swap deal.
Brazil international Melo had been strongly linked with the Gunners only to put pen-to-paper on a contract extension at the Viola on 30th June.
A buy-out clause, said to be €25million (£21.4m), has been included in Melo's new deal and recent reports have suggested Juventus could match that fee.
However, Fiorentina have claimed Arsenal remain the only side to have made an offer that comes close to activating the midfielder's sale clause.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, in denying the transfer rumours of the past few hours, which sees Felipe Melo definitely at other clubs and reporting potential meetings to finalise the transfer of the player, underlines the following:
"In case the footballer has already reached an agreement with any club, the release clause fixed with the player himself is €25million. We would not contemplate any exchange, unless it is to the liking of Fiorentina.
"Arsenal is the only club to have come close to the sum established by the release clause.
"Fiorentina in turn proposed to the aforementioned club a reduction in the amount set by the release clause by including right-back (Emmanuel) Eboue in the deal."
Eboue, who signed for the Gunners from Beveren in 2005, has recently grown unsettled at Emirates Stadium and has not ruled out an exit

I think Eboue plus money for Melo would be a very good deal, from what i've seen of him he looks like the player we need to partner Cesc in the middle. How much do we rate Eboue in terms of value? £5-6M? maybe.

I reckon Eboue + 10 mil should be enough to get him to be honest.

I doubt Eboué would go for £10m. I think we're looking at £22m to bring Felipe here (according to the article four posts up), and maybe £7m for Eboué. So £15m and Eboué, all in all.

Im so looking forward to this deal going through, with eboue going the other way.
He never really hacked it playing RM for us, yet as a RB he was more than capable to cover Sagna and looked good there as first choice before Sagna arrived. Which brings me to think if Eboue does leave Wenger will have to buy a back up RB as hoyte isnt ready yet to be sub RB. We have needed a holding mid ever since flamini left and melo would be an amazing signing for us, and if we got him and a sub right back our team would be sorted.

I'm sure Felipe Melo is right footed. If he is then maybe he could play as a right-backs as well as a central defensive midfield. Just like Flamini, he played as a right-back a couple of times. I really hope this transfer goes through.

id rather have a real back-up right back and leave melo to worry about playing in CM. We need depth in our defence which showed last season, so if were getting rid of someone from our defence we need to replace them with someone else, and not take the risk of sagna and melo both getting injured.

He's playing at a bigger club than Sunderland, attracting attention from bigger clubs than Bordeaux. It's fairly certain we can outbid you, even with our tightwad manager.

If we bid he's ours... Why would he pick Sunderland over Arsenal? It's not like he's a life long Sunderland fan. Plus London > Sunderland.

That's fake news stirred up by either the Sun or News of the World. Wenger apparently said that Chamakh would be an ideal replacement for Adebayor if he left, and he won't.

By the way, the 'papers are saying 12M...that's quite alot.

Thought Sunderland wanted Darren Bent?
