i saw on an arsenal fansite that wenger had asked barcelona about busquets from barca but i highly doubt barca would let him go. it probably was just a rumor anyhow.

Oh the joy!

Wonderfull victory by the boys to shut the critics up. Absouloutley wondefull by Van Persie, I'm not usally the one to praise him, but I have found a new respect for him.

Almunia wasn't great, but let's see if he can improve from them mistakes.

Dunno if anyone here regularly keeps up with the up and coming journalist, at Gunnerblog, but this past one caught my eye, and a lil' insight on the young samba-gunner, Denilson...performance? better than most would think,

Some stats about Denilson + Carling Cup Preview at Gunnerblog

Quote:
I’ve criticised Denilson’s performances on several occasions this season, but have always tried to mitigate that with the assertion that it is not his fault that he is being exposed to regular first-team football before he is ready.

That said, as I flicked through some statistics from the season so far, a different picture began to emerge. So far he has:

Two goals this season - that’s double Cesc’s tally
Four assists - which is behind only Malbranque, Berbatov, Malouda and Arteta
11th most fouled player in the entire league, winning plenty of free-kicks
45 tackles won - 7th highest in the league - higher than Butt, Clichy, Diarra, Kompany, Reo-Coker, Barry et al
991 passes attempted - behind only Lampard and Mikel
849 completed passes, behind only Mikel
Read the rest on his blog, cheers

That was a good find mate. Denilson actually does more work than meets the eye - Although his best position isn't a holding role behind Cesc......he still performs relatively well there for such a young lad

Why? Because a bunch of teenagers lost in a game? Do you even watch sports to watch sports, or do you like to think of it as a soap opera?

I'm just hoping we can keep it up, we have to start consistency right now against Wigan, it was only 1 game we won.
Wonder what January will bring by the way, will Wenger buy what people have been suggesting?

We won't be buying anyone in January.

Now that Timo Hildebrand has been released from his contract at Valencia I could see us going after him to give more competition to Almunia and Fabianski.

I hadnt thought about that, was more thinking of a strong holding midfielder but ALmunia reminds me of Seaman in his last years when he was slow reacting, Almunia is by no means awful but there is more competition needed.

Trust me....Timo Hilderbrand isn't all that. Fabianski can grow to be a better keeper than him. But if we were to realistically go for a keeper then i would have loved us to sign the PSG stopper Landreau

Hildebrand could become your new Lehman

Please don't make laugh. Fabianski is PURE garbage and shows how terrible he is each time he is fielded.

True, Timo isn't all that, but he is a very good keeper and would be better than both of our keepers if he was bought.

Michael Landreau has been going down hill over the last 2 years, hence why he wasn't prefered to Coupet in the national set up and why he was not resigned by his previous team before he joined PSG, I can't remember if it was Rennes.

If anything it would be beneficial for Lukas to learn from Almunia and Timo if he were signed.

Its not like Lehmann was bad for us his entire time. It wasn't until following his red card from the CL Final that he started falling.

Timo has never had the issues that Jens had and he is every bit the keeper he was and some.
