Moutinho wouldn't work for us and I wouldn't want to see him with us. He is rumored to be joining Everton anyways and we won't be getting Veloso because he is mad overpriced right now. I don't know who Giovinco is so I can't comment on him and we don't need a defender, because we have plenty of cover in defense, we need a player that can fill a number of spots such as Barry, etc.

I just found out we got £6M from Blackburn for the sale of Bentley to Tottenham. Gotta love those performance kicker clauses in transfer deals.

Do you know that for a fact? Do you have some sort of inside information that says we will not be getting him? I doubt you do. This is world soccer and anything is possible.

If we wanted Barry I am sure we could land him no problem, but we will not pay £18M for him because he isn't worth that much.

he's not worth 18m to arsenal but he's aston villa's heart and soul and definitely worth 18m to them.

He isn't worth £18M period. Has nothing to do with Arsenal or Aston Villa. They are not being realistic and the only reason they are pricing him that high is beacuse EPL teams want him and he is there captain. Gareth is not the heart and soul of Aston Villa, sorry I definitely don't agree with that. They will remain the same whether he goes or stays.

I think £13.5M is a more realistic amount for a player with not much pace, but good positioning and a good passing game. Not saying that speed is everything, but for the role he would need to play in our line up we can get plenty of other players that are faster and can pass just as well, but the one thing you can't put a price on with Barry is his proven record in the EPL where as if you get someone from outside its either hit or miss.

When teams like Aston Villa are dealing with enquires from teams who are in the Champions League they must realise the vast wealth that these teams like Liverpool have acquired through competing in this competition.

Therefore it should be common practice for team like Aston Villa or Everton to put a £18m price tag on a player who is probably only worth £10m or £12m tops.

People can moan all they like about spiralling transfer fees but we are talking about teams who are brining in over £150m per season in revenue.

If the money that competitions like the Premiership and Champions League generates is to filter down through the teams and divisions then it’s only going to happen if the smaller teams wake up and realise how much these bigger club in their bank accounts.

...and I am willing to bet you would be the first person talking about we should have signed more people if this season comes and goes and we don't win anything.

Not too long ago you were saying that we needed to sign more people and now all of a sudden you don't think we need anyone!

I understand that other teams that aren't Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham are going to require higher prices for players and that isn't my arguement. I don't care that Aston Villa evaulate him as £18M, my post was in response to him saying we will never sign him or that it is impossible to sign him.

He's only staying because supposedly he is getting an improved deal. I really hope the rumors of his new deal are false because paying him more money for one good season is bad business.

To be honest we haven't looked that good in this preseason. We may have bought 4 players, but 2 of them will not be playing a regular part. Bischoff is gone for 2 months, Ramsey will not be a first teamer for a while if Wenger uses his normal policy regarding youths, Vela has impressed me so far, but we will see when the games actually start counting for something, and Nasri has been nice and has performed as I expect.

We still need another midfielder to play the holding role because there is no guarantee that Wenger will put Abou there and Denilson is still a 50/50. I agree with Wenger that we need another midfielder and I agree that the person signed needs to be quality and experienced. Right now our entire midfield is all attack minded except for Denilson. Diaby is close to being a holder, but even he is more attack minded than defensive minded so that leaves us only 1 actually defensive midfielder and we use a modified 4-4-2 which needs a true defensive midfielder to play behind Cesc.

he was fairly good the season before last and he was excellent last season, so i think he does deserve a pay rise and especially if it keeps him at the club and its how football works really nowadays. we need him as hes the only player in our squad that can score 30 goals and if he goes a new signing or Bendtner, Vela, Van Persie and Eduardo wont get 30+ goals.

True he was fairly good, but Adebayor is not worth Henry money and I don't care how you look at it. Adebayor does not deserve to be paid £100,000/week and if you think he does then you are mistaken.

We do not NEED him, he was a bright spot last season and no one figured he would score 30 goals myself included and I have been one of his biggest supporters since he joined Arsenal. Am I glad he is staying, sure, but only if he is staying for the right reasons, and only time will tell if that is the case. What he did this summer was childish and completely uncalled for because now he is saying he enver wanted to leave, blah blah blah and if that was the case then he should have come out and said it as soon as all this nonsense started but he didn't and that makes me not trust him.

A team doesn't need a 30 goal scorer to win games or the league. If he did leave and we bought a new ST then all over our attackers would be contributing and that would be more than enough. We won the league before when Henry hadn't hit 30 in a season, and we won the league before Henry joined and didn't have a 30 goal scorer so it is very possible.
