Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that his squad will be boosted by the return of a handful of key players in time for Monday evening's trip to Portsmouth.

Carlos Tevez, who missed last weekend's draw with Newcastle after a family bereavement, will play after featuring for Argentina on Wednesday, giving United a vital extra body in attack.

There is also a chance that Owen Hargreaves and Ryan Giggs could be in contention after training this week, while Anderson will return this weekend from Brazil's Olympic team.

Ji-sung Park has also taken great strides in recent days, and has played a full part in training all week, but the trip to Fratton Park will come too soon for him.

"Tevez is back," Sir Alex told his pre-match press conference. "He’s available. Hargreaves and Ji-sung Park both trained with the first team this week, I’m delighted with that. Ji won’t be considered, Hargreaves we’ll assess on Sunday to see if he can play a part.

"Anderson will be back on Sunday, so that’s an extra body. Giggs has trained the last couple of days, plus all the players have come back from internationals fit, which is a bonus, so we’re ok in that respect."

The United manager also confirmed that Michael Carrick and Cristiano Ronaldo are on schedule for their own returns from injury - three weeks and three months respectively.
if this means no o'shea, then...

played eariler today. Brazil won 3-0.

He's in the squad, but either as a sub or starting, we'll have to wait

it looks okay. It's started growing back though.

i'm not really sure about park, i think he probably could take some part in that match, whether it be as a sub or as a starter
will have to wait and see, its a boost to have park back though, that way we can have a little more of an attacking force on the wing, and it will allow fletch to take his role in the centre where he does his best work

The squad is finally coming back all together, still a few injuries but we should hit top gear by september, and prove to all united doubters wrong that we can win and score without ronaldo

When will Spurs let him go? Its fairly obvious now that he does not want to stay, and Ramos wants rid too from his actions today, too bad for spurs too, they could have done with him today.

Berba wants to leave, Ramso obviously wants him to leave. What the **** is he still doing at Spurs. They should sell Berba, cough up all the cash they get for him to bring in another striker, most likely Arshavin. Simple as really. Shame it isn't though

I have a name

I was thinking they should get Milito, or Guiza to replace Berba if not Arshavin.

And Arsenal lost, great news so that leaves just Liverpool with all 6 points, but they're still not a threat to the title, 2 lucky wins so far. Let's hope Wigan can do the business vs Chelski.

he's in the squad, so I can't imagine him not playing. Rooney and tevez will rip Pompey up, then will be joined by Nani to batter Zenit
