Man Utd to make opening £8M Veloso bid

Manchester United are set to make an opening £8 million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso.

While Sporting insist Veloso won't be allowed to leave for anything less than his £20 million buyout clause, Italian sources say United will make a first bid of £8 million ahead of the January market.

Veloso has made it no secret he wants to join ex-Sporting teammates Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo at United, despite rival interest from Real Madrid

£8M, not bad but i doubt the'll accept it £10M is the max we should go

20 million they want for him? we can get someone far better for less than 20 million
why all the midfeilders all of a sudden anyway, although he can play defence aswell so he is slightly different
8 mil is a good bid, which they wont except because they will want to pump us for as much cash as possible

Berbatov decides Spurs future this weekend

Dimitar Berbatov will decide in the next 72 hours if he will stay at Tottenham.

Emil Dantchev, the striker's agent, will meet up with Berbatov, new Spurs boss Juande Ramos and sporting director Damien Comolli in the next few days to discuss whether the Bulgaria international will stay at White Hart Lane.

Berbatov himself will make a decision on Sunday ahead of the full meeting but until this discussion, Dantchev is refusing to give any clues as to the player's wishes.

"In five days the situation will be more clear but until then it is not my job to say whether Dimi is happy or not," said Dantchev.

Berbatov has been out of form this season and has netted just twice.

This follows last season's explosive 20-goal haul that earned him the player of the year award following a £10.9m switch from Germany.

if United sign Miguel Veloso we will have a great defensive midfielder for the next ten years. An ambidextrous players but more deadly in long range shot and free kicks with his left foot. Only imagine this midfield for United in maybe 5 years

And Veloso can also be centre back so he is a kind player that Alex Ferguson likes.

And for tomorrow we have 60% opportunity to have our captain Gary Neville against Arsenal to stop anyone who wants to pass the United right side of the field. If he doesn't play we will have the regulary RB, Wes Brown.

You have no idea what Veloso can do then I assume, if you did, you'd know he was one of our best players, mind you our OVR form, for Portugal during the past Euro 2008 qualifiers. That's saying alot since he was recently called up.

Sportinquista's don't call him the "Portuguese Pirlo" for nothing.

I hope he goes to Arsenal. I'd hate to see him at OT.
