Its wrong to praise Berba for just that one game, but he deserves praise from all the other matches he has played. He is the one constantly holding the ball so the rest of the team can get forward, no one in our team can do that. And becasue of this he almost doesn't get into scoring positions if you compare him to Rooney.

Den is right that some here on the forums has praised him way to much the last couple of days, but he is going way too far with the Berba "hating"

Don't see how a picture proves anything, Chelsea surely had plenty of pictures of Kakuta.

Not that i think we will get charged for it.

What does everyone think our 1st choice midfield should be when Hargreaves returns next month and is fully fit?
Giggs seems to have moved back out to the wingwhich is really handy. Fletcher has been amazing for the past 12-15 months but not sure how well he would work in the centre with Hargreaves. Could be a good partnership as both are good going forward but usually have to sit back a bit for the team. They would each give the other the opportunity to venture forward a bit, could work extremely well. Or they might cancel each other out a small bit.

Fifa have given him permission to play for us , so that generally means there's nothing wrong.

I think the first choice would be Fletcher or Hargreaves with Anderson or Carrick like a two choice for each type of centre mid. Hargreaves has shown he can do a good job on the right though.

we have no first choice, ferguson just picks the midfielders he thinks will do the best job on the day against that opposition

Once Hargreaves has come back to his best form, after a few matches, I think it will be him and Fletch in, with Carrick coming on if we are losing, and Ando coming on if we need a bit of pace in the midfield.

thats what any strikers do... Im sorry grawrocks but consistency (what you are implying) and berbatov in the same sentence? you've got to be kidding.

its funny you mentioned that... sorry to go back to tevez, but its funny how so many people contradict themselves (not you particularly). This whole season all i've seen berbatov doing is wall passes back to our midfielders, yet he is "consistently holding the ball up well", yet when Tevez did is, he wasn't producing, when they were doing the same thing.

People make it out as if i hate Berbatov all the time, i don't. I'm not biased either, i totally praised his great goal, and when he does have a good game, i praise him.

But viva wack off to berbatov whenever he touches the ball makes me laugh.

another thing i really really don't get about SOME united fans here, they would unquestionably back berbatov when even himself and most football experts out there have criticised him about his performances.

But when Foster makes 2-3 mistakes, people here would say let him go. Over the summer, people wanted united to get rid of Tosic when he hasn't even had a chance yet, the same people who also wanted Nani and Park out. When someone like park has played better than berbatov in the past few seasons.

I sometimes wonder how people look at themselves in the mirror and call themselves united fans, when their knowledge of football is so shallow, all they think about is big money, big reputation = good.

Ps half of that is not directed at you grawrocks.

Again, what Tevez did was lose the ball then chase back all the way into our own half to win it back. You can't deny that Tevez did this a lot last season, not so much in his first season. Another thing that Berbatov has over Tevez is that he is able to shield the ball and keep his head up at the same time to pick out a pass. Tevez could only do one or the other. In terms of shooting and crossing they're about equal, though Berba has the better technique and better vision.

Don't think I've noticed anyone who backs Berbatov after a bad performance and doesn't back Foster, Nani, Park, etc.

Hmm... I thought that at first. However Wes Brown has been less effective since his injury than I first thought, he's just not match fit and doesn't look like he will be any time soon. I presume Gary Neville will be retiring at the end of the season. And Rafael and Fabio are both very young, especially for defenders.

Maicon scores goals, both internationally and with club, and his crosses are absolutely deadly...could you imagine him and Evra on opposite sides?????

there is no doubt it is a position that isnt perfectly covered.

Brown: good defender, not very good going forward
Neville: he cant seem to consistently play
Rafael: great going forward, needs work on his positioning, timing and rushing in but those will come with age
Oshea: he does a ok job but would never want him as 1st choice. dodgy

Maicon can not only defend but he can go forward with affect, against teams that put 10 men back good attacking full backs are a must and one that can defend well is a huge bonus

saying that i dont think we will ever get him, inter wont sell. if we did get him Brown will 100% go back to being a cover CB and rafael will learn and rotate with maicon

but i am sure some one whose name starts with a D will have something different to say

“I can’t wait to get back involved in it all,” said Hargreaves. “I can’t wait to play again for United, to be able to pull on the shirt and have an effect on games. Running out at Old Trafford will be a big thing for me. It’ll be amazing. The reception I’ve had has been great. That was one of the things that I really missed, being with the guys in the dressing room. There’s such a great energy around this club. It’s fantastic being back in with all the different characters and personalities.”

Will be like Christmas come early.

i bet some people go on about Maicon's age, yes he's not young, but he's probably the best right back in the world at the moment and probably is likely to be for a few years yet going by his performances.

Still unconvinced by O'Shea defensively? He seems to have settled quite well, just doesn't contribute much to the attack.

I agree though, Maicon would be a great addition.

Maicon age 29 - Ferdinand age 32 - Vidic age 28 - Evra age 29
Rafael age 20 - Brown age 31 - Evans age 22 - Fabio age 20

And O'Shea could cover all positions and we got De Laet too.

Maicon is 28, born in 1981
