winter 2008 doesnt count either as i am pretty sure there was still problems with FA and Kia about the ownership of tevez (this is why we had to loan him in the first place)

so really 2 transfer windows, one of which we signed berba for £30m (leaving no money) and another where we actually made an offer for tevez

oh we also signed tosic and Ljajic for £16m in january so really we are only left with 1 transfer window which was this summer... and we did make an offer

Actually, no. Berbatov deal cost £30M so that was proabably the majority that year's transfer budget. Berbatov would have happened regardless of Tevez. Sir Alex has been chasing him for a long time now. Plus we knew he'd stick around for another season so we thought we'd offer the contract at that point instead. (I'm guessing)

I also have my suspicions that Sir Alex knew that C.Ronaldo would move to Madrid this summer, and was planing to use part of the money from that deal to sign Tevez.
Which is why it wouldn't make sense for us to offer a contract before we had the money from the C.Ronaldo deal. We simply didn't have the money.
We're £600M in debt, we're not as rich as some people tend to believe.

impossible, the loan deal wasnt breakable. not to mention we played £4m each summer we had him (£8m for 2 year loan)

this summer was the only convenient time to sign him, in most of the transfer windows we added to our squad which is important.

tbh why do i care? i am happy he rejected our offer

Owen for free > Tevez for £25.5m

im sure tevez would have understood that well and clear if he were treated like a professional... not saying he should be sulking about, just saying he IS a potential player who could have served us well... if the money isnt there, then there are ways to communicate that fact arent they... signing someone in-lue dont really communicate that too well does it.
