I can't imagine what they were thinking when designing the new kit

Eenie-meanie-minie-mo-GAY V ACROSS CHEST!!

So what does your midfield-attack look like next season?

Rooney - Ben...Berbatov

Anderson - - - Valencia

Carrick - Hargreaves/Fletcher

Anderson Left Mid?

He's already struggling at Centre.

Ah.. You edited Berbotov -> Berba. I was gonna look smart, but you had to spot it.

Well he is pretty cerebral - Berbotov sounds better anyways

What's wrong with Anderson (LAM/LW/LM)? That's his natural position anyways. Not this center-holding-mid nonsense you guys have him do.

LAM/CAM/RAM, Okay.

Thats what I said he was struggling at CM because that isnt his natural position but I'm pretty sure he could do worse at LM/LW.

Robben is just as injury prone as Owen in the Prem... He is made of glass
He is also ten times more selfish than Nani and he dives way more than Ronaldo at his worst.

On the other side he is fast and has great ball control, but there are more cons than pros with Robben

Yep. He was very effective for us when he came into that role.

Here's just an example of a goal he scored for us in that advanced attacking role:

When he was available for Chelsea he really performed though.

So at least he is proven while Sneijder has played 0 nanoseconds of PL football.

EDIT: Might be worth a try at LM. Especially if we dont sign one.

Viva.

Watch that, Ando scores a class goal for a team who only had seven men on the pitch at the time!

Hopefully if Hargreaves is fit, and with Ronaldo gone Anderson wont be so restricted next year and will be able to score a few.

^I was only joking though. There's usually someone that steps up to the plate when someone important departures, and I think it'll be a few players (Rooney scoring more goals, Anderson scoring goals). Now with Ronaldo gone, the focus on him is gone, and we can play more like a team. Last couple of seasons, it has been all about him, so I can't wait for this season to begin.

I didn't know it was possible to lose 4 players during a match

I thought 5 means you lose the game? 4 is ok, well not actually ok but you dont automatically lose

I think they had 3 sent off and another injured at the time, im not positive , it was only 7 players on though.

Really?

I was under the assumption that in most competitive leagues that 2 was the maximum. In inter-league play I thought it was 3.

Yeah, I remember a rule that if you lose a certain amount of players due to sending off's that you'll just be disqualified and lose the match.

Whoever asked if Anderson can score is an idiot. Anderson can finish very well mind you, he plays in a defensive role for Utd and doesn't have as much impact as he would wide left or behind the strikers...Anderson almost scored twice for United, one of the hitting the post and second of them (If he wasn't soo unselfish) could have scored against Blackburn and not have given Tevez a hatrick!

That was me, and it was a joke. He hasn't scored for us yet, hence the joke.

No reason to call me an idiot.

Dont make me laugh.
Pretty sure I've heard that story before.... "I started supporting them when I was a little kid because they were the first team I saw etc etc". It's incredibly cliche. Or wait, is it because "you admired Cantona" and that's why you began. Whatever your reasoning, I bet I've literally heard it over a hundred times already.

19 years since Mandela was set free

Quote:
why nelson mandela is to blame for liverpool's failure to win the league for 19 years

liverpool fc’s inability to win the title since 1990 has been blamed on a various people over the years, including david moores; rick parry; graeme souness; roy evans, gerard houllier and, most recently, tom hicks and george gillett. The real blame, however, for the club’s abject failure to bring home the trophy bill shankly famously called ‘our bread and butter’ lies solely at the feet of one man: Former president of south africa and anti-apartheid activist, nelson mandela.

As i will illustrate with cold, hard facts, mr mandela’s negative influence on the club simply cannot be denied. Indeed, the startling confluence of events that have led me to my ultimate conclusion will make even the most ardent liverpool fan reconsider their ingrained opinions about who or what is to blame for the club’s league demise over the last 19 years.

So, let’s consider the facts:

In 1959, bill shankly took control of a club that was languishing in the english second division. At this time, mr mandela was a free man.

In 1962, mr mandela was arrested and imprisoned after being on the run for 17 months. The same year, liverpool won promotion to the first division.

In 1964, mr mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment for, amongst other things, his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to help other countries invade south africa.

That same year, liverpool won the league for the first time in 17 years, a number that matches the length of time mr mandela was on the run.

Coincidence? I think not.

Over the next 27 years, liverpool became the most successful british football team of all time, winning a whole host of trophies, including 12 league titles, 4 european cups, 4 fa cups and 2 uefa cups.

After 27 years behind bars, mr mandela was released from prison on february 2nd, 1990.

Three months after mr mandela’s release, liverpool won the league title for the last time.

At the time of writing, mr mandela has been a free man for 19 years now. In that time, liverpool fc has failed to win the league title.

The facts clearly speak for themselves: Liverpool’s dominance of english football began with mr mandela’s imprisonment in 1964 and ended in 1990, when mr mandela was released.

Coincidence? Once again, i think not.

I think the implication is unambiguously clear: Liverpool fc's league success is inextricably linked to mr mandela's liberty, or lack thereof.

The inarguable conclusion is that liverpool can only be successful in the league when mr mandela is in prison. And as i have illustrated, there is simply no way the club can hope to win the league whilst mr mandela is a free man.

After 19 painful years without league success, the insidious influence of mr mandela needs to be addressed now. As fans, we cannot allow the damaging impact of his freedom to affect the club any longer.

To that end, i have hired a team of the world’s top lawyers to examine the terms of mr mandela’s release in 1990 for evidence of any legal loopholes/procedural inconsistencies/judicial improprieties that would retrospectively invalidate the release.

Liverpool fans can do their part by campaigning for mr mandela’s immediate re-imprisonment and signing this online petition: www.sendmandelabacktoprison.com, which will ultimately be delivered to current south african president mr jacob zuma.

The needs of the club outweigh the needs of the individual, and the time has come for the greatest fans in the world to band together and take long overdue action against mr mandela in a bid restore the club to its rightful place at the pinnacle of english football.
