As I think I've said countless times before. He's too temperamental. He wouldn't accept being put on the bench, he hates it for Brazil and he'll hate it for us. Rooney is never going to be benched, so unless we are ready to sacrifice our £30M last season signing I wouldn't even considering buying him.

ive never seen such a change of opinion on any player in my whole life.

before, he was a laughing stock, a injury-havoked player who has lost his main attribute (pace) and resorted to send out a dossier to clubs, trying to get them to sign him.

now, hes a 'world-class striker' who isnt a gamble (despite him costing newcastle over 40 million since moving there) and is good enough for one of europes best teams.

Isn't a gamble for Manchester United because he was free. It's not really that hard to grasp.
He was free and is paid 20k a month (which is fairly modest in our days ridiculous football wages. He's not a financial gamble at all. Newcastle signed him as a main-striker. ManUtd signed him as a backup-striker. Huge difference.

Fabiano is one of the deadliest strikers in Spain, he's been good for all the clubs he played for except Porto.

BTW, Rooney + Fabiano >> Rooney + Berbatov

yes, it is a gamble.

how do you know what his wages are? are you ferguson?

i highly doubt owen, a obvious money grabbing ****, would take a massive pay cut.

last weeks news: Man u interested in benzema
this weeks news: Man u sign owen

It clearly isn't a gamble

When he's fit, with the right service he scores goals

Now if you had the likes of Scholes, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs and Rooney playing with you, even you would score 10 goals a season

Owen's a money grabbing ****? How come he's taken a pay cut to play for us? He wants to play at the highest level again, and play for England again. That's why he's joined us

all you mancs are kidding yourself, hes an injury prone player who has lost his best attribute.

i would of literally hated rafa if we got him.

there are many good strikers in the world who could be bought as back-up, and you could get fabiano, who is a better player than berbatov.

also, someone like keirrison would be better back-up then owen, seeing as he actually has potential

As everyone else I can only quote the Media. And they say 20k - 50k.
And they actually tend to go overboard when it comes to wages.
How is it a gamble? If he fails he was a free transfer, and accoring to reports have a modest salary.

Michael Owen wants to win titles before he retires, Liverpool were never going to come for him, neither was Chelsa or Arsenal, so when we came in he jumped on the chance wholeheartedly, it doesn't surprise me the slightest that he would accept a lower wage for the chance of winning trophies.

Yet you love him for selling Owen for £8M when he was at his best?

Kerrison wants to go to Barca :/

And as many have pointed out. He's backup.

the same man who turned down chances to move back to top clubs for more money at newcastle..

whats the point in having a back-up who is injured more than hes fit?

surely someone like keirrison would be alot better as a transfer. id rather have david n'gog as a back up, he did just about the same as owen last year..

£25M for Alonso AND then a player aswell?

Best joke this year.

It's funny that they might be getting a striker from Real who has spent the last 2 years with Almeria

arshavin also wanted to go to barca..

also, rafa had no say in the owen transfer, owen purposefully run down his contract so he could screw us over and get a move to real madrid for more money.

rooneh, you just proved your lack of football knowledge right their. alonso is the best CM in the world who doesnt play at barcelona, he dictates the play in every game he plays in and was our best player last year. you seem to have the same level of knowledge as the person in your username
